Dr. Leonard “Lenny” Hochstein is known as the “Boob God.” His wife Lisa is a cast member on Real Housewives of Miami, which was recently rebooted by Peacock.
In the last season, Lisa admitted that her doctor husband had an emotional affair with another woman and the couple was once on the brink of divorce.
According to legal docs obtained by Page Six, the plastic surgeon is now in the middle of his fourth medical malpractice lawsuit. The patient, Maylen Ortega, used him for an abdominoplasty and breast augmentation.
Maylen claims Lenny and his med spa team “failed to follow the prevailing standard of medical care required of medical professionals.”
A few days after her surgery, which occurred in April 2019, Maylen’s incisions allegedly “began turning purple and seemingly necrotic.” She said she tried to contact his office for several weeks but “was never attended nor responded to.”
According to her story, Maylen went to a local hospital “in excruciating pain and was in critical care.” The suit also alleges Lenny didn’t preserve Maylen’s blood supply, “which in turn caused necrosis and death of tissue, leading to loss of the entire lower abdominal wall.”
The patient underwent skin grafting, and she says she has “permanent disfigurement, mental anguish, psychological injury, extreme scarring, increased change for the necessity of further surgery, embarrassment and humiliation.” She wants a trial by jury and $30,000 in damages.
In separate court documents, however, Lenny said these were “sham” allegations, and his lawyers filed to have the suit dismissed. The attorneys also claimed Maylen filed several months after the statute of limitations.
“There was no malpractice,” Lenny said in a statement to Page Six. “This case has no merit based upon the patient’s noncompliance with clear and direct physician orders.”
In another lawsuit, Lenny claimed his assistant was at fault, which he previously told Page Six. “In 2017, I interviewed a surgical assistant to possibly hire for my practice. As part of the interview process, he was asked to perform skin closure,” he said. “Ultimately, I decided against hiring him, but the needle left in Ms. Wilson is strictly due to his negligence. I reached out to Ms. Wilson in hopes of remedying his error, but she has chosen to sue me instead.”
There are numerous plastic surgeons on the Real Housewives franchise and nearly all of them have been sued. One of the major storylines of Real Housewives of Orange County was a former lawsuit against Dr. Terry Dubrow, which was filed by another housewife.
