Zack Wickham shared what he “regret[s] wholeheartedly” about The Valley’s first reunion, and he addressed being “last chair.” The star also revealed how the cast split off after the reunion ended.
During the taping, Zack was placed at the far end of the couch, which is, according to many fans, the least important spot. To make matters worse, all his enemies were on the same couch. Though he gave some hilarious reactions to Jax Taylor’s speeches, Zack was uncharacteristically quiet.
Speaking with Bravo Insider, Zack addressed his reunion regret.
“I had asked Kristen [Doute] and Brittany [Cartwright] not to tell me how reunions go. They just told me it’s going to be a long day. Great,” he said, via @vanderpodrecaps on Instagram. “I did not understand reunions are a different beast … I think that I made the biggest mistake by not prepping or thinking about the questions beforehand.”
“I wanted to be in the moment because I’m pretty good off the cuff. I regret that wholeheartedly,” he said. “I did not understand reunions are a different beast. The way they flow, the way the questions come, the way the conversations go back and forth. It is an entirely different beast than any regular interview or conversation. I really wish I would’ve prepared beforehand because I think I would’ve gotten a lot more out of it and made some points better.”
He then addressed his seating position.
“I will say, walking in and then finding out I was last chair … they always say, it doesn’t matter, blah, blah, blah, but I was definitely salty because I was like, wait a second. I know that I’m about to give more than last-chair effort in this reunion,” he said. “I know it shouldn’t matter, but it took me a while to warm up because of that, to get out of my head about being last. But then I think I did OK. I definitely know my facial expressions, and I’m sure they’ll pan to my face like 90 times because I could not have rolled my eyes more when Jax was talking, so I’m sure there’s great reaction shots from me.”
“Basically, the entire time it was just Nia, Kristen, Brittany, and I making eye contact, rolling our eyes, and being like, ‘I can’t. I can’t with this,’” he continued. “But at the same time, it was definitely a little difficult to have the conversations I needed to have because I felt like I was just talking to the air more so than directly to them since I was on their couch.”
According to Zack, the cast split off into two different groups after the reunion. Zack, Kristen, Jesse Lally, and [Kristen’s fiancé] Luke Broderick went to Kristen’s house, while Janet Caperna, Jason Caperna, Brittany, and Michelle Saniei met up with Scheana Shay somewhere else.
“It was very much a divided thing,” Zack explained, before hinting at where everybody stands. “As the show has been coming out and we’re really digesting each episode and we’re catching more and more things — and the After Show was a whole other thing — it’s changed our opinions where we’re like, ‘Oh, now I’m out again because I didn’t know you said that.’ We’ve definitely seen things in a different light after the reunion.”
