Amid her stage-four cancer diagnosis, Teddi Mellencamp opened up about her “extreme depression,” calling it “so brutal,” as her friend and former castmate Erika Jayne reacted.

Earlier this year, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared that doctors found multiple tumors in her brain. Though they were able to remove some of them, Teddi has been honest about the hardship of her treatment.

“Oh my gosh, I, like, almost needed to call you for advice because this past week has been so brutal,” said Teddi to co-host Erika on their Diamonds in the Rough podcast. “I ended up getting sick … I got COVID.”

“I’m good now, but then I started feeling, like, extreme, extreme depression,” she continued. “I haven’t ever felt like that.”

“It’s frightening,” responded Erika, recalling her own past depression. “I laid in bed a lot and I had really intrusive thoughts.”

Teddi shared that she’s also having intrusive thoughts. Erika continued, “I think the gravity of what you’ve gone through is hitting you right now.”

“Yeah,” Teddi agreed. “I was like, ‘Holy s**t. I haven’t felt like this — I don’t think ever — in my life.'”

Last month, Teddi gave an update on her health.

“This is a reminder that even if you have lung cancer, brain cancer, whatever, you still need to continue to get your skin checked, because yesterday I went to get a skin check and I had an abnormal spot,” said Teddi on her Two Ts in a Pod. “And so they removed it. They’re sending it in to get checked.”

“The good news for me — what I’m telling myself — means it’s okay, it’s in a new spot. All of my original melanomas were on my back, and this new spot is on my stomach,” she went on. “I just wanted to remind you guys because I hadn’t gone in about six months for a particular skin check.”

Teddi added, “You gotta remember, go get your skin checks even if you’re in treatment for something else … There’s specialty doctors that do specialty things. So I’m really glad I went yesterday, because now we’re on top of it, and it’s gonna alleviate some stress.”
