Teddi Mellencamp gave a major health update amid her battle with cancer, and she shared whether her kids understand what’s going on, as Dolores Catania, Tamra Judge, and Shannon Beador reacted.
Earlier this year, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star had surgery to remove multiple brain tumors. They also found two tumors in her lungs. The star said they were metastases of her melanoma, which she’s discussed for several years.
“I had my immune therapy yesterday and they did my scans, and at this point there is no detectable cancer,” announced Teddi on a new episode of her podcast, Two Ts in a Pod.
Her co-host, Dolores, then shouted with joy.
“I still need to stay on immunotherapy for another year, and I’m not considered in remission or anything like that … [but] when they told me, I was in such shock. I was like numb,” Teddi continued. “I’m still gonna be having days when I’m feeling sick and stuff because I still am in immunotherapy. So I’m still fighting, because you have to be. It’s the way they said it works. It’s like a year, then two years, then at three years you’re allowed to be considered in remission … but that was huge news.”
When asked how her three kids responded, Teddi shared that it’s “just [my oldest daughter] Slate that really understands.”
“You did it, girl,” said Dolores. “You did it. You didn’t give up one day. You fought harder than anybody I know. Wow, that’s such good news. I’m so happy.”
Teddi shared that “all the tumors continued to shrink.”
“So it’s been good. It’s a good day. It’s a good day until we have to recap Real Housewives of Orange County,” said Teddi, joking.
“Do we really have to muddy up this news?” Dolores added jokingly, as Teddi laughed. “Just f**king call it a day right now. Cause nothing [else] good is coming out of this episode.”
In the comments of the podcast video, which Teddi shared on Instagram, her best friend Tamra reacted.
“Thank you Jesus 🙌,” wrote Tamra. “Love you so much T.”
“Amazing news!!! ❤️❤️❤️,” said Shannon.
Dolores also wrote in a comment, “Teddy, you’re a beacon of hope! Your unrelenting spirit is a testament to your strength. God bless you for sharing your journey – this news is the best! ❤️🙌 I have so much Love and admiration for you.”
