JT Thomas revealed he moved to Bali after his mysterious exit from Southern Charm. The star shared why he “pulled the ripcord” and sold “everything I own,” while suggesting he may never return.
In the latest season, fans accused the cast of ganging up on JT. Specifically, they called out Craig Conover, who allegedly spread a lie about JT that poisoned co-stars against him. JT mysteriously exited the show before the new season, which is set to air soon.
“So today is the first day of my new journey in life. I have pulled the ripcord and I am living in Bali,” said JT in a November 2 Instagram post. “I guess [I’m] retired, if you want to call it that. Retired, living in Bali after living my whole life in the US. I left my community, friends, my family. And why? … I don’t even think it needs explanation.”
But JT hinted at his reasons.
“I think I’ve just been thinking about doing this, like probably many of you have. And so I said, ‘Enough’s enough.’ I decided to sell everything, or at least give the orders to sell everything I own, [my] business, real estate assets, car, watch, and just start anew until things become normal again — if that ever happens.”
“I don’t know a single person [here]. I paid my rent for the month of November. I’m going to miss Thanksgiving with my family back in the States. And I have to figure out what to do today. I have to figure out how to fill my time. I got to figure out how to build a community, make friends, start over,” he continued. “Bali is incredible. It’s … paradise. But the reality is, if I don’t make friends and build a community, sooner or later, I’m going to [be] lonely.”
JT seemed to suggest that his life in the U.S. was “chaos.”
“I think what I’ll do today is try to go to the gym nearby … I’ll sit by the pool, have some lunch at the gym,” he said. “Maybe make some friends [at] the pool, or at least start having some conversations with people. And then this afternoon at sunset, I’m going to surf, and try to keep working on that skill because surfing is a good way to hang out. Afterwards, [I’ll] have a beer, watch the sunset at the bar that looks out at the ocean. And that’s day one, as I begin my new life.”
