JT Thomas shared more details behind his decision to leave the country, and he hinted at his concerns as he starts his new life in Bali. The Southern Charm star also revealed that he just met an “amazing woman” near his villa.
Earlier this week, JT declared that he left his family and friends in the U.S. to start over in Bali. The alum suggested that he sold everything he owned, and he may not return.
On November 4, JT shared more details on his decision to leave.
“My country’s imploding, so I moved to Bali and sold everything that I own,” he shared in an Instagram video. “When you move to a new place, it’s critical, as most know, to figure out how am I going to build a new community, make new friends, especially when you’re a 40-year-old single dude.”
“So yesterday, I’m hanging out at my pool — I have a pool. There’s about eight villas in this compound [that’s] run by a Balinese family, sweet family — and there’s a woman in the pool,” he continued. “Usually, I don’t start conversations with strangers and just kind of like stick to myself. I know many of you may find that hard to believe. But I just said screw it … I say hello, ask where you’re from. Come to find out, she is an amazing woman who has been coming to this town that I just moved to for years. [She] has loads and loads of lovely friends. She was a part of a band. Her husband was in the band, she’s now widowed.”
After talking in the pool, JT said he realized she was a “really great woman,” and they “just click[ed].”
“And so later that night … [she asked me if I had] dinner plans,” he went on. “And I was like, ‘No, I was just going to get some takeout.’ She goes, ‘Okay, well, why don’t you come with me, and I want to introduce you to some people in town.’ … She introduces me to some of the most lovely people last night [at a restaurant], and we had a lovely meal in Bali … and I think I’ve got some friends now, we’ll see.”
