Emma Hernan suggested she may not return to Selling Sunset next season – and revealed why she came back after season 8.
Last month, Chrishell Stause announced that she was leaving the show after 9 seasons. At the time, she mentioned her drama with Emma (amid her controversial relationship with Blake Davis).
On Untraditionally Lala, Emma addressed her plans concerning the show.
“I was basically done [after] season 8, and I came back to tell my side of the story,” she said, seemingly alluding to the accusation that she had an affair with a married man. “I mean, I’m kind of … I’m tapped [out].”
“I’ll never say never. I don’t like when people say they’re not going to join the show and then they do. I’ve heard that so many times where people are like, ‘I’m never coming back.’ And they’re back every season,” Emma continued. “A lot of people have done and said that — I’m not naming names.”
“I’ve actually never said it, but I’m at a point where I’m really happy with my life,” she went on. “I love my family. I’ve been trying to spend more time with them. I enjoy being home with the family, and I’ve been on the East Coast a lot this year, which has been really nice for me.”
Back in November, Emma’s costar Chrishell addressed her own exit.
“I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially,” said Chrishell at the time, speaking to Bustle. “I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health.”
“If [the show comes back], I wish them the best. If they do do another one, by then, I may not watch it. I don’t know. But I have no ill will toward the show,” said the star. “The show has given me so many opportunities, and I don’t want to be bitter about it, even though I’m leaving not in the way that I would’ve loved … I think, after so many hours, I felt like, ‘Sit here, get through it. You’re not a quitter, but you never have to do this again.’”
In October, Chrishell reflected on the season.
“It felt like I was in a good place with everyone — I felt happy and strong about the real estate aspect,” she said in an interview with Variety. “This tends to happen with this show. When you think you’re going to have a pretty easy season, without fail, those are the ones that end up being the hardest.”
