Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newbie Amanda Frances clapped back at Erika Jayne for seemingly pressuring her to drink alcohol in a preview for the upcoming episode, as Amanda called out Erika for “sham[ing]” her, and fans reacted.
In a past season, Kyle Richards (an original castmate) shared that she wasn’t drinking anymore. Many of her co-stars, including her friend Erika, respected her choice.
“Does anybody want a drink?” asked Jennifer Tilly in a preview shared by @realhousewivesworld on Instagram. “Because Jeff is here for your libation pleasure.”
Amanda then asked, “Can you make a mocktail of some kind?”
Things then took a turn.
“Boo!” said Erika. “You have to drink alcohol — I mean, unless you’re Kyle.”
In a confessional, Amanda explained, “It’s not exactly that I don’t drink ever. It’s just I really prefer not to drink.”
“But I don’t know who Erika is to think she should comment on my not drinking,” said Amanda. “Am I going to be shamed for good life choices? Is that her MO?”
In the comments of the @realhousewivesworld post, fans reacted.
“Let me get this straight,” wrote one fan. “Yall don’t like this lady because she’s not a drinker … And Erika (the known drink) wants her to drink? So everyone has to drink except Kyle?”
“Jeez peer pressure should have stopped at 21 years of age,” said another. “Grow up Erika! Shaming someone for not drinking?”
“Amanda might be the only interesting thing this season since she seems fiery and not afraid of the witches,” wrote a third.
“So Kyle can do it, but others can and will get judged? Got it,” said another.
Some fans, however, seemed to think Amanda should drink, despite not wanting to.
“Oh shut up, have an effin drink,” wrote one user. “It’s not like she was rude it was a witty jokey comment to have a drink with the girls.”
“I am with Erika, drinking might make you actually entertaining,” said another.
“Not drinking is a red flag for a housewife,” wrote another. “STRIKE ONE.”
