In the season 10 trailer, Amanda told her friends on camera that Kyle spent the night at a fan’s house. Months before the trailer dropped, rumors were circulating that the couple was living apart – though they seemed to deny it at the time. But earlier this month, they officially confirmed the split.
In a Us Weekly interview a few weeks before they announced the breakup, Kyle addressed Amanda’s on-screen claim that he slept at a fan’s house.
“I had no idea she talked about that. That was something that happened last February, so, literally almost a year ago. I think a lot of people jump to conclusions,” said Kyle at the time, claiming he was at an “unofficial afterparty” after a network event. “Trailers are trailers — you don’t have context. That’s why they’re so riveting and dramatic. … It was by no means just me spending the night with some fan.”
In a preview for the upcoming episode, Amanda told Ciara Miller about her issues with Kyle, who works as a DJ.
“What’s going on with you and your husband?” asked Ciara, via @bravobravobravobri on Instagram.
“I mean, you know, he gets on my nerves,” said Amanda. “I was with some friends the other night, and they were like, ‘We have a friend that’s a DJ, and he has a wife and a kid, and he goes out to DJ, he doesn’t drink, and he goes home as soon as the set’s done.’ And I’m like, ‘Not Kyle. He finishes the set. He hangs out with the owners. He goes out with fans.”
“And there was like another f**king rumor,” Amanda continued. “Someone wrote in to like Page Six, ‘Oh, apparently Kyle was seen like X, Y, and Z.’ and Kyle was like, ‘There’s no truth to this,’ and then they squashed the article. But it’s just like, I don’t know. The fact that I’m like numb to it now scares me.”
In a confessional, Amanda recalled when she used to have “crazy reactions.”
“I used to call him. I would just be sobbing, and I could not sleep until he got home,” said Amanda. “And now I’m just like, ‘F**k it.’ I don’t even care what he’s doing. But being whatever about everything is really not a good sign.”
“I’ve been dealing with this for 10 years,” said Amanda, back in the scene. “He seems happier. And that’s why I could kind of put up with it.”
“Yeah, but are you happier?” asked Ciara.
“Probably not,” answered Amanda, who added in a confessional, “Once upon a time, I thought, like, you fall in love, and when you choose the person that you want to get married to, you’re happy, and then you have kids, and then things get difficult. I didn’t think s**t would be this hard in the first few years.”
