Kandi Burruss’s mother, “Mama” Joyce Jones, reacted to Kandi’s divorce from Todd Tucker. Meanwhile, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star addressed her first Valentine’s Day since the split.

Last year, Kandi revealed her separation from Todd, whom she married in 2014. The exes are now in the middle of a contentious divorce. According to the latest report, Kandi alleged in court that Todd refused to leave their house, which she bought before they tied the knot, and hasn’t paid a “single expense.”

Speaking to TMZ, Joyce was asked how she feels about Kandi and Todd’s divorce.

“Well I just feel like, as long as Kandi’s happy, I’m happy,” said Joyce, whose issues with Todd were showcased on RHOA. At this point, Kandi grabbed her mom’s shoulders and turned her away from the paparazzi.

But as they were walking away, the TMZ reporter asked Kandi what her Valentine’s Day was like as a newly single person.

“Well, first of all, I had to work,” said Kandi. “I had two shows. … But I took my mom, my cousin April, and my cousin Karen. We all went out to dinner. … [It was] family time.”

“I feel good,” she said when asked how she’s feeling. “[My mom]’s been very nice lately.”

Back in December, Kandi wrote an Instagram post sharing how she’s handling the split.

“When I’m going through something … I show up for my family, I show up for my friends, I show up to handle my business, & I show up with a smile all while on the inside I’m emotionally broken,” she wrote at the time. “This is not being fake. This is just how I deal with things. I internalize and deal with it alone. I am the poster child for the saying ‘check on your strong friend because you never know what they are going through’. I normally don’t like to share stuff like this but I was listening to this old song that I wrote years ago & felt like it perfectly described how I feel.”

The lyrics of Kandi’s song stated, “I haven’t shed a tear not even a whimper since December. I haven’t broke my cool or lost my temper. I’m censored. But deep down I want to explode and just let all my frustrations go. Sometimes I want to scream and release the pain I have in me.”
