Demi Engemann was reportedly demoted to a “friend of” on the new season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Meanwhile, Demi asked the court to dismiss Marciano Brunette’s lawsuit, as she claimed he wants to “punish” her and get “media attention.”
Last season, Demi accused Marciano of sexual assault while filming Vanderpump Villa. But some of Demi’s castmates alleged that her story changed, and Marciano later sued her for defamation.
According to a report from @secretlivesupdates on Instagram, Demi’s “status on SLOMW has been reduced as she’s no longer part of the main cast.”
“[Her] future on [SLOMW] remains uncertain as her role has been reduced to supporting cast member,” said the caption. “She will appear on this season as a ‘friend of.'”
Around the same time, TMZ reported that Demi asked a judge to dismiss Marciano’s suit, as the star claimed he brought it “solely to gain media attention [and] punish [Demi] for exercising her First Amendment right to speak out concerning [Marciano’s] misconduct.”
In new documents she filed in court, Demi alleged that Marciano has a reputation for predatory behavior and sexual misconduct, and she accused him of being “proud of it.”
According to Demi, Marciano bragged that his workplaces made a “special policy prohibiting him from sleeping with other employees [because he allegedly] slept with an ‘extraordinary’ number of employees.”
After filing the lawsuit, he apparently posted a reel on Instagram with trending audio of “getting even.” Demi wishes to have Marciano pay her legal fees.
Back in November, Marciano shared his intention to sue Demi.
“It all started on Vanderpump Villa, and it was a very mutual connection,” said Marciano in an interview with The U.S. Sun. “[Demi] was very flirtatious, very touchy-feely with me … So she obviously was giving me the implication that everything was fine, and it was something that I didn’t feel weary of in any sort of way. It progressed from there.”
“We had such a strong connection in there, that she was so worried about how it was going to be, how it was going to look, how she was already looking to the other girls in her group, where they were not happy with her,” he went on. “So she was trying to do everything she could to protect her marriage. And that’s where she felt like she had to go in defense mode.”
