The Real Housewives of New York City alum Bethenny Frankel hinted at her text with Ramona Singer before their recent encounter in Palm Beach, where they discussed the “new show.” Then, in another bizarre video, Bethenny questioned if Ramona and Sonja Morgan are actually friends amid an awkward interaction.
Earlier this year, news broke that Ramona, Sonja, Luann de Lesseps, Kelly Bensimon, and now Dorinda Medley will film a new show on E!, The Golden Life, in Florida (where most of them live). Some fans have speculated that Bethenny wants to film too, given that Bravo won’t be involved.
On Instagram, Bethenny recalled her recent encounter with Ramona and Sonja.
“So yesterday I dropped Bryn off at an activity, and I had to kill time. So I just go over to this bar in Palm Beach, sit outside by the pool. … All of a sudden I see Ramona,” said Bethenny in a video shared by Sonja. “And I was so happy to see her.”
“I had briefly texted her [recently],” she went on, “because there was a brand deal where the brand asked me to choose two OG housewives. And I said, [Ramona and Sonja]. And so we were just chatting and talking about her new show.”
According to Bethenny, Ramona asked “what I think about something.”
“And then [later] I walk away to go use the restroom, and I run into Sonja,” she continued. “I’m like, what? So I just assume they’re together [perhaps] shooting, I have no idea. Sonja’s like, ‘Hi … I haven’t seen [Ramona] in months.’ I’m like, ‘You’re kidding me. Like I just ran into you and then ran into her, and I’m not even supposed to be here. It was crazy and so fun and so amazing to see them.”
“When you’re not in the toxic cesspool, it’s just like … that’s why the show doesn’t really reflect what really happens,” she said. “Because if I see them out at a cocktail party, I’m going to be so happy. But when you’re in the pressure cooker of a show, the context is different, and you’re arguing over things that don’t matter because also there’s a producer with a whiteboard in another room, telling you you have to discuss things that you don’t even care about just to get some action going.”
Bethenny said Sonja and Ramona are like “strangers now” even though they’re “living close to each other.”
“My only regret is not saying to Sonja, ‘What are you doing here without Dorinda!?'” she added. “[I’m] irritated with myself. And [there was] one other thing I wish I had done, but maybe I’ll run into them again.”
Bethenny also shared a video of the strange encounter in real time.
“I saw Ramona, and I assumed that this hoe [Sonja] was with her, and she’s not,” said Bethenny on Instagram, pointing the camera at Sonja. Later on, Bethenny had Sonja sneak up on Ramona at a table while Bethenny filmed it.
“I just happen[ed] to be here!” said Sonja, excited. “I never see you!”
“You’re never here,” Ramona responded, unsmiling. “I’m here every week.”
“Are you [and Sonja] not friends?” asked Bethenny. “You just looked at her like she was your worst enemy.”
“I never see Ramona in Palm Beach,” Sonja later stated.
“Because you’re a recluse!” Ramona replied.
