The Real Housewives of Rhode Island star Kelsey Swanson responded to allegations that she’s a “sugar baby” amid confirming she has two boyfriends.
“I am not a sugar baby. Nothing close to it,” she shared in a new interview.
“The only man I ever dated with money [is] my boyfriend,” she added to US Magazine.
In the premiere episode of RHORI, which aired on April 2, Kelsey opened up about her “unorthodox relationship” with a man who “dates multiple people.”
“For the first half of the year, my boyfriend is in Miami,” she said. “When he’s in Miami, he’s with somebody else.”
Kelsey divulged she lives “a life of luxury” and has been “a lady of leisure” for 10 years.
“Living in a 16,000-square-foot home, the house literally has everything that I need. Four kitchens, 79 TVs, the closet – the best part,” she shared. “My boyfriend’s family is probably one of the most prominent families in the state of Rhode Island, and he has allowed me to live a life of not being able to work.”
Kelsey noted she met her boyfriend when she was 19 years old, and they’ve been together for 10 years; however, it’s not necessarily a conventional relationship, as she said he’s gone for “a good five months of the year,” leaving her “in a literal empty house.”
When having lunch with co-star Liz McGraw, Kelsey stated the arrangement doesn’t bother her.
“When I have my free time and I’m solo, to be honest, I f***ing love it,” she stated.
Kelsey did cop to wanting “more” from herself as she’s at a “crossroads” after turning 30.
“I want to be in a committed relationship with one person, but at this stage in his life, there’s not one thing he’s going to change,” she detailed. “He is who he is and either I accept it, or I have to leave.”
Kelsey’s co-star Rosie DiMare questioned whether Kelsey was a polygamist, given all of the information surrounding her.
“I thought Kelsey was that,” Rosie said. “Her boyfriend has a girlfriend here and a girlfriend in Florida, no?”
Alicia Carmody, another star on the show, was curious how Kelsey split things during the holidays. This led Rosie to take her questioning a step further, stating, “What are you saying? She has another boyfriend?”
After the gossip got back to Kelsey, she got candid in a confessional.
“People seem to not be able to stop talking about my relationship,” Kelsey stated. “But, Rosie, are you asking questions or are you already saying, ‘I heard this, and she is this, and they are that?’ Because that’s a bad path to go down, and it’s going to end up ugly for you.”
In a preview for an upcoming episode, Kelsey seemingly confirmed the gossip.
“The two people in my life are the most wonderful people ever,” she revealed.
This led Rosie to quickly respond with the following: “Now you’re saying that you do have two boyfriends. Like, what?!”
Although RHORI just premiered, it’s clear this franchise is going to have no shortage of drama from the jump.
