Huda Mustafa was one of the most talked-about contestants on Love Island USA‘s seventh season. Since the show ended, she’s gone on to date Louis Russell, who is from Netflix’s Perfect Match. The two were recently on a live session together when a fan called in and referred to fellow Love Island USA star Olandria Carthen as a racial slur. Now, both parties have issued responses.

Huda and Louis have been rumored to be an item for quite some time. However, she denied that this was the case at the Love Island USA reunion, causing a bit of a public rift with Andy Cohen. Though they’d been seen in public before, the couple became Instagram official in September 2025.

During their recent live, Huda and Louis were taking calls from fans. It turned controversial when a caller clearly said, “Hey, Olandria is a [N-word].” After that, both Huda and Louis laughed. He said, “Whoa, hey, hey.” Huda then asked, “Yo, what did they say? They said a bad word.”

Later, Huda posted, “Yall first of all clickbait using a sensitive topic is actually insane. Me and Louis did not hear what was said in that no caller ID call on live, only the racial slur, which we hung up immediately. I don’t condone anything of the sort.”

From there, she reiterated that she does not condone racism and stated that the caller “sounded like a child.” She then posted again, saying, “Also, laughter was because it was AWKWARD, like who the heck says something offensive like that on a call on his live and as you can hear me say, ‘what did they say,’ and ‘they said a bad word.'” She then said that the person who made the comment was in the wrong.

Louis also posted online, stating that he does not condone racism and initially didn’t hear that the caller used the slur toward Olandria. He also claims to “hate the Love Island fanbase.”

This led Olandria to respond on her Instagram Stories. She wrote, “I do not condone racism of any kind, nor do I entertain it. That kind of language is never acceptable. Not in anger, not as a joke, not ever. Words like that carry generations of pain, and pretending otherwise only keeps the cycle going.”

She then said, “Defending it, laughing about it, or making excuses is even worse.”

Olandria then added, “While I anticipate this will result in surface-level apologies that fade in a few days, I’d like to transform this moment into something actionable.” She then used her post to call on the public to “demonstrate a genuine commitment to anti-racism.” Her next posts included links to organizations such as the NAACP.

Huda also posted another statement on the matter. She said, “I’ve taken the majority of the day to reflect and collect my thoughts to make sure this didn’t come off as disingenuous. Last night, I quickly posted a statement acknowledging my reaction to the racial slur that was said on Louis’ livestream. I want to take this moment to more fully take accountability for my actions.”

She continued, “I want to begin by saying I completely respect Olandria, and it’s extremely disheartening that anyone, especially a presumed child, would find it excusable to use this type of language, and doing so only underlines the ignorance of the gravity that such a word carries.”

The next part of her statement included a message to Olandria. She said, “Olandria – it is now clear that this comment was targeted at you, and I apologize for my immediate reaction.” Huda went on to say that her laugh was the result of “being caught off guard.” She also stated that she will be making a personal donation to the NAACP.
