Layla Taylor confirmed her split from Mason McWhorter before revealing that she’s grieving “who I thought he was.” Meanwhile, his brother, Chase McWhorter, spoke out amid rumors that Mason was recently spotted with another woman.
In the summer of 2025, Layla first hinted at her relationship with Mason. At the time, the romance was somewhat controversial, given his brother’s drama with Layla’s castmates on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
Over the weekend, Layla confirmed their split.
“I feel like it’s kind of obvious,” said Layla in a TikTok video, via PEOPLE. “I think everyone’s already noticed, and there’s pages already making videos about it, so I just wanted to hop on here to kind of set the record straight on something.”
“Obviously, me and Mason are no longer together,” she continued, shedding tears. “It’s still super fresh. … [There’s] no bad blood. … I genuinely want and wish nothing but the best for Mason.”
According to Layla, things “just weren’t working out.”
“I think we were just on two different paths right now, and he felt in order for him to grow, he had to be on his own. And I respect his decision, and I truly hope that he gets what he wants in life,” she said. “Mason was a really big part of me and my boys’ lives for the past almost year. … We went through a lot in this last year, to be honest. But I’m grateful for everything, and I’m grateful he was a part of my life for how long he was.”
“I just really thought that I was gonna get the family that I wanted so badly,” said the star, who asked viewers to be “kind” to Mason. “I still love him so much. … And I only want the best for him.”
In the comments, Mason’s brother Chase wrote, “Love u so much! This sucks! But u and mase both are the best.”
Castmate Jessi Draper added, “Love you so much,” while Mikayla Matthews expressed, “Love you babe.”
“Love you to the moon lay. Here for you always bb,” wrote castmate Miranda.
“We’re here for you my girl,” said Taylor Frankie Paul.

Soon after Layla’s post, however, things seemed to take a turn.
On social media, Layla reacted to a fan who wrote, “Now [you] are realizing that trying to be nice and understanding isn’t going to make him come back.”
Layla responded, via @stephwithdadeets on Instagram, “No I just found out stuff, first video I was grieving who I thought he was.”
Then Chase commented, “Layla what? I invited him to my homies birthday and dinner to get him out of being home all day. He’s not with anyone? ‘Who u thought he was’? What’s going on?”
Around that time, someone in a comment claimed they recently saw Mason out with another woman. “My friends and I were at Sapa as well last night and saw [Mason] with a blonde chick… they were one table away from us. They at one point went into the same bathroom together… didn’t take long for him to move on.”
