At Garcelle Beauvais’ 55th birthday party, Erika Jayne told the actress’ 14-year-old son to “get the f**k out.” Her comment came on the heels of being scolded for flirting with Garcelle’s other son, who’s married.
Once Erika apologized for her behavior and admitted she over-mixed alcohol and meds, Garcelle forgave her. All seemed well… until the episode dropped. Many fans became enraged at Erika’s behavior (though Garcelle seemed fine afterward), and they slammed any castmate who showed her compassion.
Speaking with Us Weekly, co-star Sutton Stracke shared her thoughts about the drama.
“I’ve said this before, Garcelle is a very gracious person,” said the fashion boutique owner. “I think she may have let [Erika] off a little bit too easily.”
In a July 11 interview with the same outlet, Garcelle also addressed the situation. “It’s unfortunate that that had to happen,” she said. “But he’s good. He’s good.”
The actress admitted, however, that it was “really tough” to watch her son in the middle of the drama. “That’s definitely crossing the line for sure,” said Garcelle. “No doubt.”
In her own interview, Sutton suggested there’s a double standard. “If I had done something like that, I’d still be getting it,” she said. “These ladies would never have let me forget it.”
Sutton also addressed Erika’s actions related to the drinking.
“I just don’t trust anything [with her] because I don’t know what’s real and what’s not. I was not at Diana [Jenkins]’ Christmas party and watching it, I was like, ‘OK, that’s different behavior,’” said the 50-year-old. “In Mexico, we are in Mexico. … It’s a sensitive subject for me with my father’s suicide and taking antidepressants and drinking. That’s a typical thing with depression [and] if that’s something that was happening, I was gonna get concerned.”
Sutton, however, said she and her co-star are “not in that place” where she can “go up and say something” about it. “I just, that’s not a good idea. I think I just stay out of it … [We] don’t have a friendship.”
The star added, “We can be very cordial and that’s it. … Right now I’m good with where we are. We can make some funny comments and we can sit at a dinner table together. And I think that’s a good place for us. It’s just like, it’s good, good calm.”
Sutton claimed she’d be “an idiot,” however, if she “trusted” Erika in the same way again.
The idea of Sutton discussing ‘trust’ is funny to some fans, who feel she’s not very trustworthy. While many viewers enjoy watching Sutton sling mud at Erika, others are wondering if it’s her only storyline. Both Sutton and Garcelle, in fact, have been accused of being obsessed with the 51-year-old singer — monitoring her every move, nitpicking each of her words.
If the accusation is true, how long will the obsession last?
