Netflix’s Selling Sunset is one of the most popular real estate shows on television. As fans of the show know, the cast often has drama that goes far beyond selling properties, and Christine Quinn‘s breakup with Christian Richard is one example. Now, she’s speaking out for the first time about her traumatic experiences, the split, and how she’s been coping.
As fans of Selling Sunset know, Christine and Christian tied the knot in 2019. They have one child together, who was born in 2021. Sadly, Christian filed for divorce in April 2024 after being arrested following a domestic violence incident. He was later arrested a second time for violating an emergency protection order.
Recently, Christine, who now lives in Texas with her son, sat down for an interview with PEOPLE, where she opened up about her divorce from Christian and how it has altered her life.
The Selling Sunset star said, “This is the first time I’m talking about this stuff. I haven’t talked about this with anyone. Some people knew stuff was going on, but no one knew the extent of it in terms of how bad everything really was.”
She went on to discuss her estranged husband violating the previously mentioned order of protection. According to Christine, “I really didn’t have a choice. I was granted an emergency protective order, so my ex couldn’t come to the house. He violated that and would keep coming back.”
Christine also brought up an example of Christian’s alleged attempt to control her. She claimed he would sometimes lay under her car to prevent her from leaving the house.
“There were times where my husband, literally, where I had to go to work and he would lay himself under my car,” she claimed. “I would sit for an hour until I finally missed a meeting and gave up and would go back inside, or he would shut the gates down so I couldn’t leave. It was bad.”
Because of his alleged intrusive behavior and his violation of the order, Christine was forced to resort to hotels and couch surfing. She called this time in her life “very difficult.”
Additionally, she didn’t have access to her personal bank accounts, credit cards, or email accounts. She says this was the case because Christian “commandeered” her phone number, effectively locking her out of everything.
She then fought back tears as she said, “People really don’t know this. I was hacked out of my entire life. I was stripped of my entire life overnight — I literally had nothing. And it was dehumanizing. I was completely resourceless.”
PEOPLE also reached out to Christian and his legal representation, but they received no response.
