The Real Housewives of Potomac alum Candiace Dillard-Bassett has thrived since leaving the show. Not only did she become a mother, but she’s also a cast member on the new season of The Traitors. Now, she’s weighing in on Taylor Frankie Paul being the new Bachelorette and reacting to the news of Karen Huger being released from jail early.
Canidace, 38, announced in March 2024 that she would not be returning to RHOP. It seems like she mostly made that choice due to being pregnant and not wanting to film such a stressful show.
Recently, a person who posts under the name of Blakely Thornton took to Instagram to react to the news that Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor would be on the new season of The Bachelorette. They used a text overlay that read, “No black woman could act even 10% as ghetto and be named ‘The Bachelorette.'”
There were many comments on the video, and one was from Candiace. She commented, “Lololol. So I didn’t know how gutter she was bc I didn’t really watch the Mormon wives so now that I’m up on game…… yikes.”
Some comments also mentioned Taylor’s previous arrest for domestic violence.
“3 kids, 2 baby daddies, literal DV charges but it’s cool when they do it right,” wrote one person.
“She has a DV record,” wrote another person, referencing an incident in 2023 that led to Taylor being arrested and facing misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief, and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child, according to the Herriman Police Department.
ABC has yet to respond to the backlash. But during an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast earlier this month, an emotional Taylor stated the charges “were all dropped,” according to PEOPLE.

In other Candiace news, she was recently on a red carpet, and an interviewer asked for her thoughts on her former RHOP co-star being released from prison. “I was elated,” Candiace said. “I think we were all kind of surprised that she was released earlier than her original release date.”
“I was so happy. People make mistakes, and it could have been anyone. I know people are really hard on her and wanna really throw the book at her, but I’m more inclined to give her grace,” Candiace added. “I’ve spoken to her. She’s doing really well. She’s resting, she’s recalibrating. I felt for her children so much. That’s their mom, and she’s the north star of her family.”
Candiace went on to say that she prayed for Karen’s family, and she’s happy that she’s home. She also said, “I’m sure there’s gonna be books and movies and all kinds of deals coming her way, and she will take it in with grace.” Candiace also stated that we will learn something from Karen.
