Next Gen NYC star Gia Giudice recently opened up about how her mother’s feud with Jackie Goldschneider made things awkward for her when she pledged to a sorority in college. Additionally, she provided an update on her plans to move into her own place.

As fans will recall, season 11 saw Teresa Giudice tell Jackie about a cheating rumor she had heard. As a result, Jackie, 48, used an analogy and said it was akin to her hearing that Gia was using hardcore drugs. Nowadays, Teresa, 53, and Jackie are on better terms.

Gia, 24, opened up about this on iHeartRadio’s Dirty Rush: The Truth About Sorority Life podcast. She said My mom and Jackie were arguing. My mom heard a cheating rumor, and Jackie goes, ‘That’s like me hearing that Gia snorts coke in the bathroom at parties.’ My mother flipped out.”

Gia added, “It was obviously an insane statement to make, regardless if it was an analogy.” She then discussed how it impacted her life as a college student. She says this happened during her junior year and that she was called into a standards meeting.

According to her, “I’m sitting on this Zoom call with a straight face, and they go, ‘Gia, we saw what has been on the tabloids and what just aired on Bravo. Do you participate in doing the drug cocaine?’” Gia continued, “I was like, ‘No, I do not do coke.’ And they saw just how unfazed I was and how pissed I was, and it kind of ended there.”

She called the call with standards “very quick,” but also said that the whole thing could have been avoided. She continued, “The girls in my sorority knew that I didn’t engage in cocaine. They knew that I didn’t do the drug. It was just such a crazy statement and such a crazy question to ask me. You didn’t have to bring me to standards for that.”

The Next Gen NYC star then said, “They probably just were on their high horse for a minute and got off on it, but it definitely annoyed me. That was the only time I got called to standards, and I was so upset that I texted Jackie about it afterwards.” Gia also says that she and Jackie are fine and that she apologized for the analogy.

Gia also spoke to US Weekly recently about her eventual plans to move out of Teresa’s home. She told the outlet, “I think it’s totally normal to live at home for as long as you want, and when you are ready to move out and take on that responsibility, it’s totally up to you.”

She continued, “I wasn’t rushed. I didn’t have a timeline. My mom isn’t kicking me out of the house.” Regarding where she’s at in regard to moving out, Gia explained, “I am apartment hunting right now. I’m moving out very soon [in the] next month. I’m excited to really have this alone time and be independent and just have this whole different perspective of, like, going to work and commuting. I’m so excited for that.”

Despite making plans, Gia acknowledges that living at her mother’s house isn’t a bad thing. According to her, “It’s never a bad thing to live at home. Save your money, especially now. I did see on the news, apparently, that the house interest rates went down like 2.2. It’s trickling the right way, so maybe in a year, I’ll be ready to buy.”

During the interview, she also gushed about her stint on Special Forces: World Toughest Test, saying, “I’m so excited for Special Forces to premiere. It’s premiering in five days.” She added, “I just think it shows everyone in a different light, like, it’s raw, it’s real, and it was one of the craziest, hardest experiences I’ve ever done in my life.”

Regarding how filming the show with Teresa changed their dynamic, she said, “My mom and I spoke a lot about things that we probably have never spoken about, because you are just secluded from the outside world.”

She went on, “It was just her and I, as well as the other castmates. I felt most comfortable with my mom, and we talked a lot about letting go, and this journey on Special Forces was so amazing to just let go of the anger and really worry about yourself and just really let go.”

Gia added, “I overcame so many things on Special Forces, like my anxiety, just feeling overwhelmed [and] second-guessing myself. … It really was such a life-changing experience and show.”

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test premieres on Fox on September 24.
