Gizelle Bryant reacted to Mia Thornton’s arrest for alleged theft, and she said she would have given her “$3 for some furniture.” Meanwhile, a new report claimed that the Real Housewives of Potomac star was sued for eviction months before the arrest.
On November 19, Mia was arrested for allegedly taking furniture from her high-rise luxury rental. The arrest took place at an Atlanta airport after police were called concerning a wanted person, over an active warrant for the alleged theft, in the office of Customs and Border Protection.
“Are we talking about $11,000? Like, what are we doing here?” asked Gizelle on her podcast, Reasonably Shady, via @the.jasmine.brand on Instagram. “Mia, girl, you could have called me. I’da probably given you $3 for furniture … It’s all strange.”
Her cohost, Robyn Dixon, then expressed, “Very confusing, but at the end of the day, it is a crime to steal somebody’s furniture … I’m sorry that she, you know, put herself in this situation.”
“Are you?” asked Gizelle. “Why? … You thought about it, and you decided to commit a crime. And now you feeling sorry for her? I don’t.”
Robyn and Gizelle then advised Mia to give the furniture back.
“[And] where is Bobby Valentino in all of this? Does he have furniture?” asked Gizelle, referring to Gizelle’s rumored new boyfriend, an R&B singer.
“I don’t think she can fit it,” said Robyn, laughing.
According to a report from Us Weekly, a company named Encore Management sued Mia for eviction, months before the arrest over the furniture. Her ex, Jared McGriff, was also a defendant in the suit, which claimed that he and Mia did not pay rent at a 2,011 square foot unit with three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The plaintiff asked that Mia and Jared be evicted, in addition to paying the rent that’s due — $5,100 for the month of September, and $6,085 for each month they stayed. The lawsuit is also seeking an extra $700 for fees.
The outlet obtained another eviction suit in March of last year, filed against Mia in North Carolina, after a landlord alleged that Mia didn’t pay $3,419 for rent.
