Kathy Hilton is Called Out by Actor Gabourey Sidibe for Confusing Lizzo for Her on WWHL, Calls It “Strange” Because She’s “Been to [Kathy’s] House”

Gabourey Sidibe reacted to Kathy Hilton confusing Lizzo for her on a controversial 2022 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Gabourey, who’s played many famous roles, including Precious in 2009, called the comment “strange” because Kathy “know[s] me,” and Gabourey had “been to [her] house.”

In the 2022 interview, Andy showed photos of celebrities to see if Kathy knew their names. When Lizzo’s picture came up, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star guessed “Precious,” the character Gabourey played years ago.

“That was weird because I’ve been to that lady’s house,” said Gabourey of Kathy’s comment, on One 54 via @mrhousewives on Instagram. “And [I’d] had a meeting with her. … I’ve never met Lizzo, but Lizzo and I do different things.”

“I guess we were — I’ve been confused for many a Black fat, like many, many, many women,” the actor continued. “And it’s always weird and tinged with racism.”

According to Gabourey, she went to Kathy’s house and had a meeting with her because “she wanted to dress me.” So when she saw the interview, Gabourey found it “strange.”

“You ought to know my real name, also,” said Gabourey. “Because she said ‘Precious.’ … I just, I don’t know.”

After the 2022 interview, WWHL fans reacted to Kathy’s comment.

“The Kathy Hilton clip is messed up and y’all know it is. Lizzo minds her own business but all people do is make her a joke and this time it wasn’t even intentional. This time she caught a stray and I wish someone would’ve stepped up and said something,” said YouTuber Kalen Allen in a comment shared by Everything Housewives on Instagram.

“Kathy Hilton just called Lizzo ‘Precious.’ She needs her a– whopped,” wrote another user.

“Now, I know Kathy Hilton doesn’t know much, but how the hell did she manage to confuse Lizzo with Gabourey Sidibe? That certainly plays into the ‘we all look alike to them’ trope,” said journalist Shar Jossell at the time on Twitter.
