Carole Radziwill revealed more details behind John F. Kennedy Jr.’s infamous fight with Carolyn Bessette in the park, and she shared what the Hulu show allegedly got wrong. The Real Housewives of New York star also claimed her ex auditioned to play her late husband, Anthony Radziwill.

In the popular new show, Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, one of the characters is Carole’s ex-husband, who was Kennedy’s cousin and best friend. Anthony passed away in 1999 after battling cancer. Three weeks earlier, Carolyn, her sister, and JFK Jr. passed away in a plane crash.

One scene in the show detailed the shocking fight between Kennedy and Bessette in a park, which was captured in many photographs at the time. At one point, the fight got physical, and the show seemed to suggest they were arguing about their engagement. In another episode, a mystery person (assumedly one of Kennedy’s friends) gave him a letter accusing Bessette of using drugs and having questionable motives.

On Substack Subscriber Live, Carole shared more details about the infamous fight.

“I remember at the time talking to [Carolyn] about it,” said Carole, via @deuxmoi on Instagram. “It wasn’t a big – it was one of those things that escalated from a small little thing to something bigger. It wasn’t about their engagement.”

The host then mentioned the theory that they were fighting about the mysterious letter.

“That never happened, by the way,” said Carole. “There was no letter. Because I remember John telling me the story after the fact. He thought it was so funny because when he told her about what this guy had said – which again, was nothing terrible at all.”

“If there was a letter, I never saw it. Believe me, if there was a letter, Carolyn would have showed it to everyone,” she added. “She’d be like, ‘Could you believe this f***er sent me this letter?’ But when John retold it, he never said anything about a letter. I remember very clearly he told her, like, this is what his friend had said.”

Carole also recalled Carolyn’s reaction.

“When he told her that, she looked at him and said, ‘You should hear what people say about you,'” said Carole. “And he just thought that was so clever. And so he just smiled from ear to ear when he told me. That was the story. She was not a shrinking violet.”

Speaking to The New York Times, via Us Weekly, Carole revealed that a man she dated a few times told her that he auditioned for the role of her late husband, Anthony.

According to Carole, she was driving in the car when her ex (who she didn’t name) called to ask if she had recordings of Anthony that may help him train for the potential role. Carole recalled that she had to pull over to recover herself.
