Sources have revealed that Selling the O.C. will not film this year – and shared why. Meanwhile, Alex Hall claimed the show has “decided not to continue” season 5, and hinted at why she’s “not sad” about it.

Recently, reports surfaced that the flagship show Selling Sunset is stuck in contract negotiations with Christine Quinn, who hasn’t been in the cast in years. The original series is in the middle of a cast shakeup following the exit of Chrishell Stause.

According to TMZ, Selling the O.C. will not film in 2026. Insiders told the outlet that Selling Sunset – which reportedly is facing obstacles related to the cast shakeup – is taking priority. Because of this, the O.C. is getting pushed back as they focus on Selling Sunset.

The insiders claimed that Selling Sunset is set to start filming later this month or in early May, and Selling the O.C. will therefore get bumped out of the 2026 schedule.

But will Selling the O.C. ever come back? According to the sources, no decision has been made – and costars are worried that the pause might become permanent.

On Tuesday, cameras were absent as Polly Brindle celebrated her 40th birthday with castmates at the Los Angeles location of the Oppenheim Group Office. Brett and Jason Oppenheim, Lisa Victoria, Fiona Belle, Tiffany and Gio Helou, and Alex attended.

Around the same time, Alex addressed the situation in an Instagram video.

“I think I have an announcement to make. Should I tell the people?” she said at what appeared to be a restaurant with friends. “There’s some big news coming out.”

“So a lot of you probably know that Selling the O.C. has decided to not continue the season 5,” she continued. “We’re not sad, because there’s some other very exciting news coming up. So stay tuned.”

Earlier this year, Christine confirmed that she was in talks to return to Selling Sunset.

“Those conversations kind of happen every year, and there’s interest every year, but I feel like this year was different,” said Christine while speaking to Entertainment Tonight. “There was a lot of fan feedback in terms of, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re rewatching this. Christine was right. What were we thinking? I owe Christine an apology. This is crazy.’”

“A lot of people were going back and watching from season one on, and so I feel like the fan flare-up was something like I’ve never seen before. The overwhelming support was crazy to see,” she added. “[But] I live in Texas … I’m from Texas so I love it, and I love being around family, but who knows? … I think it would be really iconic. Never say never, right?”
