Dolores Catania has been a mainstay on The Real Housewives of New Jersey for years.
She also shocked Bravo fans when it was revealed she’d be the first current star of a Housewives franchise to go to a new one, while not leaving her franchise, when she joined The Real Housewives of Rhode Island.
A source exclusively revealed to Reality Blurb that Dolores has “not been invited” back for a second season of RHORI.
“She was not asked back,” the insider divulged, noting she was also “not invited to the reunion,” which Reality Blurb had previously revealed.
“As you saw on the show, she wasn’t featured a lot and just wasn’t necessary to move the plot forward,” they continued. “The main cast members are crushing it, and, while Dolores was put in the mix to bring a familiar face that fans would recognize, it just ended up not being necessary.”
“She’s hardly been on screen in the first season, only appearing in a few scenes,” they added.
While she’s currently filming for RHONJ‘s upcoming 15th season, the insider shared that it’s not going particularly well either, as she’s having a “tough time.”
“Dolores has always been a peacemaker and the middleman, never choosing sides in the conflict between Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga,” the source stated. “Now that Teresa and Melissa have made up, Dolores’ role isn’t as clearly defined.”
“It’s almost like she’s being pushed aside a bit and isn’t sure of her place,” they added.
The source concluded by stating that while Dolores was “riding high” with RHORI, RHONJ, and her stint on The Traitors, it seems like the “golden age of Dolores may be coming to an end.”
In Reality Blurb’s report detailing why Dolores was not invited to the RHORI reunion, a source shared the main reasons she wasn’t asked to join.
“Dolores wasn’t invited to the RHORI reunion for a few reasons,” a source previously shared. “First, she is back to filming RHONJ. That was and is her primary show. And that obviously will be occupying her time.”
“But, for as chaotic and dramatic as these women are, she wasn’t really involved in any of the drama,” they elaborated. “She was ancillary in terms of being more of a sweet background character. She didn’t need to make a name for herself as the main cast members did, and she didn’t attempt to.
“Due to this, the reunion won’t be any worse for the wear without her in it, and thus, Bravo probably didn’t feel the need to bring her up for it.”
The insider also noted that had Dolores “been involved in a major altercation,” Bravo “would have had to include her.”
“But she was simply a friend of and a great bridge to get people invested in these amazing new women,” they added. “While it may come off as weird to not see her as she was in the season, Bravo clearly remains invested in her as a star of the network. There wasn’t anyone else they gave another show from RHONJ during the pause, and that clearly says something.”
