Southern Charm star Venita Aspen had a dramatic season 11.
This was due to issues in her friendship with Craig Conover because she was loyal to Paige DeSorbo, Craig’s ex-girlfriend. She also had issues with her friend Salley Carson.
In a new interview with Reality Tea, Venita revealed she’s looking forward to a “reset” after the tumultuous last season.
“I went to Europe,” Venita revealed about what she did after filming wrapped. “I put myself on a completely different time zone than everyone else, and I really just took time to regroup with myself.”
“I put everything I needed to put out on the table, and then I had to relive it,” she continued. “But I knew that I put everything out that I needed to go out, and I just needed to let it be what it was going to be, and take time to reset and regroup, and be on a different time zone. Just doing that was very, very helpful.”
Due to the combative season, Venita not only dealt with the fallout from her friendships but also had to face online trolls targeting her as the season aired.
She noted that she was grateful for the public support she got from Summer House star Ciara Miller.
“When she spoke out on socials for me, and that was something I didn’t ask her to do, like, we hadn’t talked about it at all at that point, and I was just like, ‘Oh, yes, I have a safe space,'” Venita said.
While Bravo has said that Southern Charm will be back for another season, they have yet to announce a cast.
Venita was unable to confirm if she’d be back or not – which, given Bravo wanting their talent to be tight-lipped about the upcoming season, is not surprising – but she did talk about how she plans to act if she returns.
“I think I will back down less, even if I feel like I might get the trope of, like, oh, you’re the angry Black girl, or you’re this, and you’re that,” she stated.
“You’re going to say it anyway,” she added. “So let me just stand in what I believe in that moment, and just walk in that, and not be afraid of what other people are going to say when I choose to react to what’s happening in front of me.”
