Mikayla Matthews threw major shade at Jessi Draper’s romance with Marciano Brunette. The star hinted that Jessi is “making bad decisions,” as she called out Marciano’s “lies,” before Jessi clapped back.
Last season on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Jessi told cameras she had an emotional affair with Marciano (who lied about the extent of their relationship). After the season wrapped, Jessi’s husband, Jordan Ngatikaura, filed for divorce. In recent months, Jessi revealed that she and Marciano are now dating, and they’ve posted several romantic-looking videos together.
On Virtual Reali-Tea, Mikayla addressed Jessi and Marciano’s romance.
“I can’t keep up,” she said. “I feel like that was another thing … I got to distance myself from … because I have too many opinions.”
“It’s hard,” she went on. “It’s like one of those situations where … you know your friend’s making bad decisions and you know what’s going to make them happiest. And so, it’s hard to keep those opinions to yourself sometimes, but sometimes, that can also cause them to distance themselves from you because they want to be open about this stage of their life.”
She then pointed to Marciano’s behavior last season.
“I mean, we saw season three, we spent the whole entire season having his name on our mouth and having to distance her from him and his lies and the whole affair,” she said. “So, I mean, I have my opinions there, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, you do you.’ I have to remove myself because I can’t let it eat me up every day.”
After the interview dropped, Jessi clapped back in a comment on Instagram.
“If being treated like a literal queen is a bad decision… sign me up ❤️,” wrote Jessi.
Last month at the AMAs red carpet, Jessi told ET how nice it is to not keep her romance with Marciano a secret anymore.
“We were saying how ironic it is, like the last month that we’ve been able to go to restaurants and just be seen,” Jessi shared at the time. “Obviously, at first it created a commotion, but now it’s just normal life, and we’re just having fun.”
As for whether they’ve defined their relationship, Marciano said, “No, we haven’t. I think the main thing for me right now is I want to be a support system for her. I’m a best friend first, and then anything after that is something that, yes, do I want, but maybe one day down the road when she’s ready. I think we both are gonna be working on that together.”
