Last season, Katie hosted a hotpot event for the cast. Unfortunately, some castmates were cracking jokes throughout the meal. At one point, Emily tried to put an egg in her purse. Later on, Katie accused Emily of using actors to conduct a fake lie detector test to try to bring Katie down.
“The biggest thing that made me uncomfortable was … when I hosted Hotpot,” said Katie on Pink Politics. “It was horrible. All they did was make fun of the food. And this is a food that is deep-rooted in Asian communities. And you are making fun of it.”
“Emily putting an egg in her purse and trying to make this all a joke, it’s not funny,” she added. “Also, if you remember, she hosted that lie detector test with those actors — for a Persian New Year party. How are we not talking about how she literally villainized a day that Persians celebrate?”
Katie said they “wanted to make the brown person look like a liar.”
“All they kept saying was, ‘Katie’s a liar, Katie’s a liar,’ when I didn’t lie about anything,” said the star, who alleged that original castmate Vicki Gunvalson got caught in a “massive” lie (alluding to the fake cancer scandal in a past season). “And she’s back [on the show]. And glorified.”
Earlier this year, Katie shared what she regretted on RHOC.
“The only thing I think I regret is giving people so much grace when I didn’t get any,” shared the star at the time on Instagram. “I was told to make amends and be friends with people so that this could be an actual friend group. So that’s what I tried to do.”
“I said sorry even though I probably said sorry way too much,” she added. “But that’s how I felt. I truly genuinely didn’t want to make anyone feel bad or hurt their feelings, and I wish I wouldn’t have, because they didn’t do that same in return for me. Lesson learned.”
New episodes of Real Housewives of Orange County air Thursday nights on Bravo.
