The upcoming Real Housewives of New York City spin-off, The Golden Life, is already getting extended before it begins airing.
As Reality Blurb reported in February, nearly three years after Bravo booted all of the OG women from RHONY, E! decided to sign some of them for a new show about their lives in Palm Beach, Florida.
“Bound by decades of shared history, fallouts and friendship, this fan-favorite group of New Yorkers are starting fresh together in the Sunshine State,” a description of the series from E! News read at the time. “In this new ‘golden’ era of life, the longtime friends are thriving in and around Palm Beach with fabulous second homes and a bustling social scene. With their signature humor and non-stop hijinks, the series will follow the group as they navigate dating, family, and career milestones.”
While the show had taped earlier this year, TMZ recently reported the women are heading back to New York to tape more episodes.
According to production sources, the women taping the show impressed the network with the footage they already shot so much that they got an expanded episode order.
The insiders the outlet spoke with said cameras are due to go back up at the end of this month and will show the cast in the Hamptons before returning to New York City.
They also claimed the vibe of the show is quite different from the drama RHONY had, as it was described as “fun” and “light.”
They also noted there will be a cameo from Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Margaret Josephs.
“Bravo made the worst decision of their lives recasting RHONY,” one insider stated.
The show is due to feature Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Kelly Bensimon, Ramona Singer, and Dorinda Medley.
Jill Zarin was initially set to appear, but after comments she made about Bad Bunny‘s Super Bowl halftime show that were deemed racist, she was let go.
