While Vanderpump Rules alum Stassi Schroeder has always seemed to have a pretty strong relationship with husband Beau Clark, it seems all may not be well in paradise.
Stassi, 38, has a new show called House of Stassi, which premieres tonight on Hulu.
In the premiere episode, Beau, 46, opens up about issues they are having.
“I’m trying to balance wanting her to have her space and to be able to not stress out when she’s working,” Beau shares. “But then also I’m sitting here, and I’m angry and resentful.”
Beau reveals he was “just shoving it down” instead of dealing with the problem.
”I just got so detached from her that it’s like we’re roommates,” he adds. “I don’t feel worthy.”
In their relationship, Beau decided to be the stay-at-home dad, which seemingly has been a bone of contention for the pair.
“I’m trying not to stress out Stassi. She’s got the show going on, and she has her podcast. She’s got brand deals, and hopefully at some point, I’ll be able to find the words to just have a chat,” Beau confesses. “With Stassi, I will let her know how I’ve been feeling.”
As the premiere episode progresses, Beau continued discussing the issue.
“I just literally just feel like a 1950s housewife where I have my apron on and I’m cleaning everything while feeding the kids,” Beau explains to Stassi. “Sometimes that’s how I feel because we don’t have that connection all the time.”
Stassi is seen getting emotional when Beau referred to them as roommates, and she starts to tear up.
“I want you to say things,” she tells him. “I want you to say things the way that you tell me you don’t want things to build up. I need to make more of an effort.”
“All I know is him being with me in the thick of it every day – for the last five years,” she notes in a confessional. “I became a mom, and he was with me the whole entire time.”
When asked by producers if Beau’s comments made her uncertain about returning to reality TV, Stassi assures them they didn’t.
“I’ve already been working for years to get here. I can’t just stop now because all of a sudden, Beau waited until this very moment to tell me that,” she shares.
Stassi also tells Beau they will “work through” any issues.
In a conversation with Swoon, Stassi opened up about her marital issues playing out on television.
“My worst fear is that people will be like, ‘I’m Team Beau,’ or, ‘I’m Team Stassi,’ and put us against each other,” she shared. “That’s not it. You’re watching a real married couple who love each other fight about normal things that married couples go through. We’re not against each other. Please don’t put us against each other. We’re just being honest and vulnerable and opening up to the world. That’s my worst fear.”
She noted she thinks the show ended up helping their relationship.
“What I love about doing a show is that it forces you to talk through it and work it out,” she said. “So, to me, it’s like my therapy. Of course, it causes some issues momentarily because you’re like, ‘This sucks. We’re fighting.’ But then we’re forced to talk about it.”
