In the world of reality stars and influencers, it is quite common for them to promote products, as they are paid to do so.
While many choose to do sponsored ads for things they deem align well with their life and their brand, others are more open to promoting a variety of products.
Recently, Southern Charm star Craig Conover promoted ON! Brand nicotine pouches, which he’s taking a lot of heat for doing.
“One thing I know about is pillows and what soft is supposed to feel like,” Craig, 37, began on Instagram, referring to his Sewing Down South pillows. “When I heard that ON! nicotine pouches came out with a pouch that feels like a pillow in your mouth, I was like, ‘Nah, you got my attention.’”
“Pillow in my mouth, surrounded by pillows. That’s my ultimate dream,” he added. “It’s noticeably smooth, extremely soft. I don’t think I could be more comfortable.”
Fans immediately took to the comments to voice their disapproval over Craig advertising for such a product.
“Wow, new low,” one person wrote. “If you want to use that s*it, do it, but don’t encourage others to do it. Those things are awful for you. Anything for money, right?”
“Sometimes you need to turn down a paycheck,” another follower advised.
Another commenter insisted “we all love you,” but “promoting this is just so beneath you.”
Others weighed in to share they felt it was “low,” “tacky,” and a “red flag.”
Interestingly, Craig’s co-star Salley Carson, 31, who one follower alleged is promoting ON! as well, wrote, “My favorite kind of pillow.”
To her comment, Craig replied, “Cinnamon stick + pillow. Meet my exciting sister. Bring back stories from around the world.”
When looking at Salley’s Instagram page, there is a photo of her holding ON! Brand nicotine pouches.
