During Jill Zarin’s time on The Real Housewives of New York City, fans loved her mother, Gloria Kamen.
Gloria was always quick to dole out life advice, especially to Bethenny Frankel.
This morning, Jill heartbreakingly shared that her mother has died.
“My mom, Gloria, passed away this morning at 91,” Jill, 62, shared on Instagram. “She was my best friend, my mentor, and the most important person in my life. For 68 years she was the heart of our family—married to my dad, devoted to everything she believed in, and a relentless truth-teller in a world that needed her honesty.”
“She was everyone’s therapist, everyone’s voice of reason,” she continued. “Our book Secrets of a Jewish Mother shared our life stories and the wisdom that made her unforgettable. She was the real OG housewife who raised incredible women and touched the lives of millions with her counsel and kindness.”
Jill noted her mother “leaves behind a legacy that can’t be measured.”
“Her wisdom, her strength, and her love will live on in her Grandchildren, Allyson, Jonathan, Joanna, Yotam and her first great grandchild, Abby who she absolutely treasured,” she added.
“She will be deeply missed and never ever forgotten,” Jill’s statement concluded. “Thank you mommy for everything you did for me and giving me the most beautiful family. You picked the best father I could ever ask for and you were always right about everything even if it took me a while to see it. ❤️”
Before her death, Gloria had some health struggles.
In late 2022 and late 2023, Jill revealed her mother had been hospitalized over Thanksgiving and had suffered anxiety, weakness, and a viral illness that required constant care. She also revealed that Gloria had spent a lot of time recovering in bed and had dealt with aging and surgeries.
To date, none of Jill’s former co-stars have commented on her mother’s passing away, but many fans were quick to offer condolences in the comments.
