While the Duggar family has not had any television shows on the air since 2021, they have remained a staple in the news.

Although Michelle Duggar and Jim Bob Duggar appeared to be extremely strict parents, Joy-Anna Duggar and Jinger Duggar recently opened up about something they may not have harped on too much.

Joy-Anna recently went on The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast.

On the episode, she and Jinger discussed what surprised them about getting married, which took place at 19 for Joy-Anna and 22 for Jinger.

According to Joy-Anna, 28, Austin Forsyth, her husband, was less than thrilled with her lack of hygiene even before they tied the knot. Specifically, she noted that she didn’t take showers daily or wash her hair very often before they got married.

“Some days you don’t feel dirty,” she revealed, via excerpts shared by the Ashley Roundup. “I did not care that much. [I was like], ‘Hygiene? Ehh.’”

She claimed having to shower every night to keep her husband satisfied was the biggest adjustment she had to make after she became a Mrs.

“That sounds crazy, doesn’t it?” she said.

“Jokingly, he was like, ‘You know when we get married, we’re gonna shower every night! We’re gonna be clean!’” she continued. “He let me know his expectations, and I was like, ‘Okay, fine.'”

Joy-Anna alleged that her husband is a “germophobe,” as he sometimes takes two showers in the summer. She also shared that he washes his hands very often.

Jinger, 32, also revealed her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, was surprised by her hygiene habits.

“The hygiene thing has improved with Jeremy [in my life],” she shared, insisting he’s “improved my hygiene majorly.”

“We won’t even get into all the hygiene things because it’s too much to talk about,” she elaborated. “I still don’t wash my hair [often], Joy. The hygiene thing, it’s massive in [Jeremy’s] eyes.”

The 19 Kids and Counting alums did not open up about what other hygiene habits their husbands weren’t thrilled with.

“We’re not going there yet!” Joy-Anna added.
