Millennials often look back on some of their favorite shows, many of which were in the reality genre.

One of those programs was Rock of Love with Bret Michaels, which aired on VH1 from 2007 to 2009.

The premise of the show was that 20 women lived in a mansion together and competed to be Bret’s ultimate “rock star girlfriend.”

Bret’s show was so successful that it spawned multiple spin-offs, including Daisy of Love starring season two runner-up Daisy De La Hoya

Daisy of Love ran for one season in 2009.

Reality fame and money don’t last forever, unfortunately, and Daisy recently sat down for an interview with The Daily Mail to claim she’s homeless and unable to find work.

“I’m poor and homeless, that’s the truth,” Daisy, 42, told the outlet on Friday. “I’m staying with a friend, but it’s a temporary thing, and I’m in school and looking for a freakin’ job.”

Daisy noted she found employment for a brief period going door-to-door doing fundraising for a nonprofit but ended up being fired “for not being good enough.” She also recently applied to work at fast food joints McDonald’s and Del Taco but did not get the jobs.

“It’s embarrassing, and it’s very hard, but I keep searching. I don’t know what it is about me, but I guess God does not want me to have a job,” she continued. “I’d work at McDonald’s, Starbucks, anything. Maybe I’m overqualified, or maybe I’m underqualified. I don’t know.”

As for her salary on Daisy of Love, the former reality star claimed she only made a flat $50,000 and does not get any residual pay for streaming or reruns of the show.

“It’s still there on streaming platforms, but I don’t get any of that money,” Daisy explained. “The good news is that I’m still getting fans and people can watch it, but I don’t get any money from it.”

After her stint on reality television ended, Daisy ended up having issues with substance abuse and mental health. She ultimately got sober in 2024 and is currently on medication for bipolar disorder and anxiety

“You have a different perspective after hitting rock bottom and losing everything,” she said. “And I was lucky, but I’ve had to crawl my way back, and I’m still crawling my way back up. I don’t think of myself as being famous or being somebody. I just think of myself as a person who did a thing and wants to continue to be part of the entertainment industry. But sometimes I think I need to just give up on entertainment because at this point I just need a job.”

“I do everything that the treatment centers and the therapist and everyone tells me to do because it’s important,” Daisy elaborated. “This is something that you do for the rest of your life. It’s not something that you do once a week or for a weekend retreat, and you’re done. For me, this is my entire life, my every day. This does not go away, and everything is hard. It’s like learning to relive your life.”

Daisy also confirmed she doesn’t keep in touch with Bret.

In an Instagram post Daisy shared on August 10, she wrote, “I just applied to McDonald’s twice . Please do not tell me I am not trying to look for a job Karen . The jobs just don’t want me 😭. I’m over doing my best damn work everyday 💪🏻 for them. Ok 👌🏻.”
