Craig Conover shared where he stands with Venita Aspen today. The Southern Charm star hinted at “ebbs and flows” in their friendship – and addressed their recent “texting.”

Last year, after Venita sided with Craig’s ex Paige DeSorbo amid their breakup, Craig vowed to never be friends with her again. In the latest season, Venita warned her friend Salley Carson not to pursue Craig, based on what Venita has observed with him in the past.

On After the Edit with Daryn Carp, Craig shared an update with Venita.

“Venita and I have been friends for a long time. There was some stuff that, you know, there’s ebbs and flows, [which] you’ll get to see [in the new season],” said Craig, via @thebravoinvestigator on Instagram. “Her and I were out of the country at the same time for the last few weeks, and she took her mom to Paris.”

“And so while the rest of our cast was asleep, her and I were awake, [texting],” he said. “She’s a sweet girl, and her family’s really sweet. … We have the closest that our cast has ever been, and it’s a really fun place to be.”

Back in January, Venita shared why she was trying to protect her friend Salley against Craig amid their past romance.

“As any good friend should do, I know the type of man she wants to be with, and I just did not think that he fit the criteria,” said Venita in an interview with Parade at the time. “And I didn’t want her to continue to waste her time going after something that wasn’t worth her time to me. … If people think I came across like, ‘You have to pick him or me,’ that’s just not the case,” Venita explains. “Listen, call me a bad friend if you want. I’m sorry — but God forbid I was just trying to look out for my best friend.”

“I think that Craig likes a yes man, and Salley was his yes man,” she added. “And I think that Salley really did enjoy the idea of a potential possibility with Craig.”

Venita then praised her friendship with Salley.

“She showed up for me when I needed her to when I was having some health scares, I showed up for her when she had health scares, vice versa,” she explained. “But I know I’m no longer here to give advice when I’m not being asked to give advice as to what she should do.”
