Ariana Biermann revealed the hardest part to film on season two of Next Gen NYC, and she shared what was really going on with her and Charlie Zakkour. The star also addressed why things ended with Liam Obergfoll, and she shared more details about her past relationship with Hudson McLeroy.
In the new season, Ariana broke up with Hudson, her longtime boyfriend. (She eventually shared at the reunion that he went to rehab.) A month later, she started dating Liam, but ended things in the season finale — and hooked up with Charlie, who she dated for a while after. But she later suggested that Charlie manipulated her with religion, pretending to be spiritual to get on her good side.
In an interview for Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristow (which was recorded before Ariana filmed the reunion), Ariana explained that she was with Hudson for 10 years “on and off.”
“We dated other people [during the off periods],” she said, via @vanderpodrecaps on Instagram. “I’ve dated a few other people, as has he.” Ariana hinted that their last breakup (before this year) was “three and a half years” ago.
“I realized a lot [from the recent breakup],” she added. “I realized that I don’t really know what my passion is, what I kind of want to do with my life. Like it’s very a blessing. I get to do all of this. And then I’m on a reality show with some of my best friends and I get to do brand deals and I get to do all these things. But, obviously, none of this is guaranteed forever.”
Ariana said she’s seen Hudson “dating other girls” when he and Ariana weren’t together, and he’s seen her “dating other boys.”
Later on, Ariana was asked what the hardest part to film was.
“There was a lot of things that were happening behind the scenes in my life, and like things I can’t talk about … things with Hudson that if he wants to share, that’s his story to share,” she said, “things that were going on that kind of contributed to me to start going down a path that was not the best version of myself.”
“And I think that that was hard to film,” she continued. “And like I would go home and think about it like, oh, God, I know I’m not making the best decisions. Like, I know I’m not doing the best things. And I think watching it back is going to be pretty brutal.”
When asked why things initially ended with Liam, Ariana said the romance “got really real” and it “scared” her.
“I’m honestly not really used to like a … very healthy, safe relationship,” shared Ariana, who added that she pushed Liam away and “did something” that “hurt” him, alluding to her time with Charlie.
“I [had] told my mom I’m going to marry [Liam],” said Ariana, referring to before she started dating Charlie. “And then I had Charlie creeping up my ear. I mean, he’s been creeping up my ear for two damn years. You know, like, I finally just gave him the time.”
“I never wanted to be with Charlie as my boyfriend,” she said. “But that’s what made me comfortable with him. That’s what made me like, this doesn’t matter. … This is like a no-feelings [thing]. Like it’s fun to flirt with you and it makes me happy and it’s fun. … But like … you’re not going to be the father to my children. … Liam could have been a husband. Liam could have been whatever. That, I think, is what scared the s**t out of me.”
