Angie Katsanevas revealed that she doesn’t stay in contact with her Real Housewives of Salt Lake City castmates when they aren’t filming – and shared why.
Last season, Angie feuded with Mary Cosby, her good friend, though they seemingly made up quickly. In the new season, Angie has stood by Mary’s side after the tragic passing of her son Robert Cosby Jr. More recently, the star announced her split with husband Shawn Trujillo.
On Pedestrian TV, Angie was asked if she stayed in contact with costars when they weren’t filming the show.
“No, you know, I did not,” she admitted. “I think I’ve also learned that summer is just a time to kind of decompress. And if I’m talking about this show from [in between seasons], it can consume your entire life.”
“And I want my daughter to feel that I’m present and … committed to motherhood and to my family. And so I take a bit of a break,” she went on. “And I’m trying not to be on the phone as much. And I’m not like a going-out girl. I don’t go out for drinks. I don’t go out to clubs or to dinner often with friends. When I’m filming, of course, yes, I do. But when I’m not, I’m just, I’m very committed to my family.”
Angie said that, in the past, she felt like the show was “consuming” her.
“I think in order to remain the person that you are and the person that the fans love, that break gives you the opportunity to reset and not like become a caricature of yourself,” she explained. “They watch us because, you know, I’m a homemaker. I love to cook. I love to go into the salons. I love to be with my family and be a part of the community. And they watch you because of who you are.”
“You never want to forget who you are,” she added. “I think you easily can [get consumed], and I felt it taking over a little. So the break keeps me healthy. The break keeps me focused on being a great mother.”
