Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice‘s daughter Milania was arrested earlier this year after she was accused of assault during a domestic violence incident at her family’s home.
Then, last week, police were called on her again after she ran away from Teresa, 54, her sister, Gia Giudice, 25, and a counselor at the Tampa International Airport.
Milania, 20, was due to appear in court today regarding her domestic violence case.
She did not end up showing up, and her lawyer asked the court for a later date for her hearing, Page Six reports.
The judge did end up granting it, and Milania is now due to show up to court on December 1.
Alan Kraminsky, Milania’s defense attorney, spoke to the outlet and shared, “Without getting into the specifics, I determined that adjourning the hearing was the appropriate course of action.”
“I join Milania’s family in respectfully asking everyone to give her the privacy and space she needs,” he added.
Teresa also released a statement yesterday about Milania following the airport ordeal.
“As a mother, there is nothing more important to me than the health, safety, and well-being of my children,” Teresa shared via Instagram. “The past few months have been incredibly difficult for my family, and I feel it is important to say something while also protecting my daughter during an extremely vulnerable time in her life. Milania has experienced tremendous heartbreak and significant psychological trauma after losing two of her best friends. Grief affects everyone differently, and watching your child try to process that kind of loss is something no parent can ever truly prepare for.”
Teresa noted that she is focused on making sure Milania is getting the care she needs.
“I understand that because our family has lived much of our lives in the public eye, there will naturally be questions and speculation. But Milania is my daughter before she is anything else. She is a young woman going through an incredibly difficult and deeply personal time, and she deserves the opportunity to heal without every moment of her pain being analyzed publicly,” she continued.
“I am asking, from one mother to another, and from one family to all of you, to please show Milania compassion and kindness and allow her the privacy she needs right now,” Teresa wrote. “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has reached out with love, prayers, and support. It means more to our family than you know.”
Teresa concluded her message by asking “the media and the public eye to give Milania and our entire family the privacy and space we need as we navigate this together. Thank you for your understanding, your compassion, and most importantly, for respecting my daughter during this difficult time”
Teresa’s statement came after police bodycam footage from the ordeal was released.
