Last month, Gael’s ex-boyfriend Nathan Gallagher was convicted of domestic violence against Gael, the mother of their child. Authorities are reportedly still searching for his whereabouts. Earlier this month, Gael shared that she was in “survival mode” while filming the latest season.
In a recent Instagram post, Gael uploaded a video of a memorial she attended that honored the lives of 56 women who lost their lives in 2026 in Australia “at the hands of someone they once chose to trust.”
Each woman’s life was represented by a heart.
“I knew coming here my heart would hurt,” she wrote. “But walking up and seeing those hearts in person my eyes ran and my heart broke into a million pieces again.”
Gael shared “how close I came” to being “one of those hearts.”
“I cried. Not for myself. I cried for the families, and for those who lost their lives at the hands of another,” she continued. “But also for the women still there. Still stuck. Whose fate still feels out of their own hands.”
“Those who understand, understand,” she added. “And those who can’t relate I hope you find it in your heart to try to understand.”
On October 8, Gael shared how she felt filming the new season.
“And there goes the close of another season of Med… and another chapter of life,” she wrote at the time on Instagram. “You didn’t get to see much of my time in Croatia. It wasn’t the easiest chapter of my life, and there’s still so much left to be said about that time. … I moved away with a new baby and still living in survival mode.”
She added, “Leaving my support system at home wasn’t the plan, but I’m so grateful for the experience. Croatia showed me the strength I have as a mother and as a woman: no matter how challenging the circumstances, I will survive. And not only that, I’ll always find the pockets of joy, cause life is a beautiful thing, and there is always light as long as you keep looking for it.”
