Love Island USA season seven has come to an end, and now the contestants are making the press rounds to discuss the show. Recently, Chris Seeley sat down for an interview and discussed his intense breakup with Huda Mustafa, revealing what fans of the hit show didn’t see. Plus, she’s opening up about why she couldn’t remain with him outside the villa.
People who watched Love Island USA season 7 know that Chris and Huda were coupled, and many believed they might win the show. However, there were a few tense moments leading to their breakup. One of the most notable moments occurred when she wanted to be intimate, despite his attempt to sleep, prompting her to count down from three.
Chris was recently on an episode of The Viall Files, where he opened up about Huda’s countdown and exposed what viewers weren’t privy to when watching the episode. Notably, some online fans believed he was pretending to be asleep. According to Chris, “I feel like what you guys didn’t get to see is the whole argument and why we were arguing.”

He explained, “We weren’t arguing because I didn’t cuddle her. We were arguing because we were told we were only going to get like two hours of sleep, and instead of prioritizing sleep, she wanted to get active in the bedroom. I wasn’t about that, and I had made that clear to her.”
Chris went on, “I’m like, look, ‘if we’re not going to be doing PDA on the outside and you can’t even give me a kiss, we’re not doing sh** in the bedroom.'” From there, he went on to say that sleep is vital to him and that this was an important boundary for him regarding the situation with Huda.
He continued, “She crossed it and she wasn’t okay with it, and I feel like for her to catch an attitude and for her to be like, ‘okay, if you don’t talk to me right now I’m not going to talk to you all day tomorrow. I’m gonna ruin your day.’ And then count 3,2,1, like I’m some child. Like, I’m a grown a** man and if my mama doesn’t talk to me like that, you’re for sure not gonna talk to me like that.”
Chris went on to explain that Huda doing the countdown while he had a boundary put a damper on his day. This is especially the case as he respected her boundaries throughout the course of the show. He also stated that he told Huda that her not wanting to kiss around the other islanders made him feel that she was embarrassed by him.
The Love Island USA stars also interviewed with US Weekly and discussed their dramatic breakup. She said about their last date, “Y’all were laughing about it. I was sitting there in disbelief. I see somebody walking up and I’m like, ‘Is this my family member? Like, are they coming to save me? Then I see the light on with the microphone and I said, ‘You’re f***ing joking right now’. I’m literally sitting there and just staring. It was comedic timing.”
Regarding the reaction to their breakup, Chris explained, “Honestly, I didn’t know the breakup would be blown up the way it did. I still have my phone buzzing every day. The memes are really funny. But just the reasoning behind it for everybody is catching me off guard just because it’s not the real reason.”
Chris continued discussing their breakup and also mentioned one of the final challenges, where he told her she’d have to walk through the water. He said, “When I came back and asked her why she was crying, I didn’t know she was going to still be there sitting and crying. Because once the conversation ended, we were both ready to get up and go. That is why I got up and left.”
He continued, “I came back and I asked her why she was crying and [she explained]. I said, ‘OK, I clearly understand where you’re coming from, but it was your decision to make. So, just stand on that.” However, he then said that he didn’t initially refuse to carry Huda back.
Chris stated, “She was basically giving me a choice, like, ‘Are you gonna carry me? Are you going to make me walk?’ It kind of just rubbed me the wrong way because, of course, I’m a gentleman. But I’m not going to fall into you trying to make me fold again to give you some type of treatment. Yes, we’re friends, and I could’ve given her a piggyback ride.”
He added, “I tried to help her down, but if she wasn’t getting carried, then she didn’t want to be helped at all. That is why I walked away.” Huda disagreed with his version of events. According to her, “He did not want to do that. Let’s be real here. That man did not want [to carry me or help me].”
She then responded to the online opinions about their split, saying, “Everyone has their opinions. I know exactly how I want to be treated in a relationship, and I’m not going to settle. I will never sit here and just accept [whatever] as he says shut up to me. That’s another thing, Chris would want me to shut up. I don’t like that.”
Huda went on, “I’m not letting a man talk to me like that. I’ve had past relationships do that. It triggers me. There’s a lot of little things that weren’t shown on camera that led me to my decision because why the hell would I have a man talk to me that way?”
Regarding why she wouldn’t remain with Chris for one more night, Huda explained, “Why would I try to put on a show and be a happy girl and whatever when I’m not happy in my couple? … I really didn’t care about winning. I really wanted to leave with my person. And if this isn’t my person then I’m not leaving with you. I don’t care if it’s the finale, I’m not leaving and not being genuine about my connection.”
There has been speculation that Chris wanted to push Huda to be the one to end things between them. For his part, Chris said, “I didn’t really want her to be the one to end things. I knew it was going to happen after the whole situation in the bedroom where she counted down. I was waiting for her to bring it up, which she did.”
He went on, “There were some issues that I still wanted to work on on the outside because I did like her. I didn’t think it was gonna go down like that, but she made that decision, and we’re just gonna live with it.”
The reunion for the show airs on August 26.
