Season 19 of The Real Housewives of Orange County is currently airing, and one of the returning ladies is Emily Simpson. Recently, she opened up in an interview about what fans can expect from the season finale, and she also shared her candid thoughts on Gretchen Rossi.
Gretchen, 46, left RHOC after season eight in 2013. The latest installment of the long-running Bravo show marks her return, and she’s now a friend of.
Emily, 49, sat down for an interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea, hosted by Evan Real and Danny Murphy. They mentioned that it has been said that the season has a really dark ending. In response, Emily said, “It was awkward. It was an awkward ending. It was um… I’m never at a loss for words, and I usually can assess a situation and have an opinion about it.”
She continued, “This, I didn’t even know really what to say. It was very awkward.”
The hosts then asked if it was awkward because it was embarrassing for someone or if Emily was uncomfortable being there. The RHOC star responded, “I was uncomfortable.”
When asked how it impacted the group, she explained, “I would say it fractured the group, but not in a way where we’re not friends. It fractured the group in a way that we’re all confused, and I don’t think we know exactly our position or where to go with it.”
She also stated that the ladies and the fans will have to wait for the reunion to get answers for what happened. Emily continued, “I just feel like it was very gray and convoluted and confusing.”
Emily also spoke about Gretchen. She started out by complimenting her hair and saying that it “looks very healthy. She does have good blonde. You never can see regrowth. I don’t understand that. She must, like, color it weekly.”
Still, she went on to say that it doesn’t move, and she often compares Gretchen’s hair to a helmet. From there, Emily threw shade at the way Gretchen dresses.
She discussed an argument they had, saying, “We actually get in an argument [when she wore this ensemble], but it looks very ‘Little House on the Prairie.’ Like, I thought she was gonna get in a covered wagon and leave the argument.”
She then recalled another outfit and stated, “There’s another one where it’s like a mix between Hamburglar and Sherlock Holmes.”
The hosts joked that the way Gretchen dresses is creative, and Emily agreed, saying, “It is creative! Like we joke and she’ll even make jokes when she puts things on like, ‘I knew Emily was going to say something,’ and I’m like, ‘You bet I am.'” She then said they “have fun with it.”
