Kristin Cavallari has always been an open book when it comes to her relationships, both past and present. She was vocal about her divorce from former NFL star Jay Cutler, and she stated that she didn’t receive alimony or any other support in the agreement. Now, Jay is calling her claims bogus.
Kristin and Jay tied the knot in June 2013. Sadly, they broke up in 2020, and their divorce was finalized two years later. They have three kids together. She made the claims about their divorce settlement on her show, Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour.
According to Page Six, Jay was recently on an episode of the Take It Outside podcast, where he responded to Kristin saying she didn’t receive anything in the divorce.
He started, “Let’s think about this logically. ‘Not a penny.’ OK. Married for, I don’t know, seven years or so, three kids.”
He continued, “You can go and see how much I made in the NFL. It’s online. You can see the contract from year to year and the total amount at the end of 12 years. So, you go to divorce and each side gets a lawyer, and then you go to court and there’s a judge.”
Jay then landed his argument by saying that no judge in the state of Tennessee would agree to allowing him to keep everything he earned throughout their seven-year marriage. It’s worth noting that he retired in 2017, which means he was still an active player during most of his marriage to Kristin.
He then said, “It’s irresponsible. I think it’s reckless. I think it’s borderline slander to insinuate that there was zero dollars split during the marriage that each side got. It’s insanity. It’s completely false, completely untrue. It is, it just is. I’ve got a divorce decree. I’ve got something that’s signed by the judge — it’s like, 67 pages — it says the number breakdown.”
Jay didn’t go into detail about their agreement, but regarding what Kristin got in the divorce, he said it was “definitely not zero.” He also said that what she received was enough to live comfortably for the rest of her life.
In other Kristin news, she discussed how friendships need maintenance on a recent episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari. In discussing the topic, she mentioned her best friend, Justin. She said, “And Justin is maybe a little different, because Justin is a man and he’s very masculine. And he is someone who I really, I really am able to get a lot from Justin, which, hey, maybe that’s why I haven’t felt the need to settle or like make a man work.”
She continued, “Because I’m getting a lot from Justin that I would need from a man, other than sex, obviously, which we won’t even go there because the lack of that is really sad. I haven’t been dating this year, you guys.”
However, she then said she recently went on a date. According to her, “I haven’t been dating this year. I did just go on a date, and it was a great date, and it was a really great first date back in the game.”
