The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Garcelle Beauvais shocked fans when she departed after season 14.
Garcelle opened up recently on The Julia Cunningham Show on Radio Andy at SiriusXM about leaving the show.
While many people assumed she quit at the reunion, it was actually in a later conversation with Andy Cohen when she officially decided she was done.
“He checked in on me and texted, but I really wanted to have a one-on-one with him because I respect him, and I really wanted to say it to him personally that my run has come to an end,” she revealed.
She was also asked during the interview if she would ever do something like Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip down the road.
“No,” Garcelle declared. “It’s not of interest.”
Garcelle also spoke at People Inc. Black Affinity Group’s Legacy Chat series in New York City and discussed her sudden decision to leave the show.
“First of all, when I joined that show, I mean, obviously, I knew the show and I had friends on the show, and I knew it was popular,” Garcelle began. “I had no idea that me being announced was going to go, like, crazy viral.”
Garcelle recalled being shocked when a friend told her she was “trending” on Twitter once it was announced she was going to be on the show.
While she noted being on RHOBH changed her life, she said her “spirit” told her it was time to exit.
“It gave me a new audience that I didn’t have before,” she said. “It gave me a different, in terms of brand recognition and all that, but knowing when to leave, my spirit was not … My spirit was no longer there. I couldn’t do it anymore. I just couldn’t do it.”
Garcelle noted that when she was on the reunion stage, she “looked around” and “felt like” she had no friends.
“And if the show is based on friendships, I didn’t have any friends on that show anymore,” she elaborated. “And so it just didn’t feel right for me and my spirit just didn’t feel like that’s where I needed to be.”
While she chalked up leaving the show as a difficult decision as “you don’t leave paying jobs,” she explained that choosing herself was more important.
“Once again, I had to choose me,” she shared. “I chose me in the marriage when I walked away. I chose me here.”
Sadly, it seems fans of Garcelle’s on Bravo likely won’t be seeing her return to the network; however, they can catch her in projects she’s acting in and producing.
