Andy Cohen addressed the rumor that Real Housewives of Orange County is getting rebooted, as Andy hinted at a “refresh.”
Unfortunately, many fans have complained that the historic 20th season of RHOC is uninteresting and lacks drama. Some believe that Tamra Judge’s choice to remain unactivated is a reason for its lack of success as she tries to repair her public image.
On SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, a fan asked Andy if RHOC is getting either a “reboot” or a “refresh.”
“A refresh? Um. I would…” said Andy cryptically, via @thebravobabe_ on X. “We’re always… We refresh everything.”
But the fan pressed him further, “Like an NYC refresh? Like a whole…”
“We’ll see,” said Andy.
Around the same time, a source told Bravo and Cocktails that a shakeup similar to Real Housewives of New Jersey is on the horizon, with only Heather Dubrow, Tamra, and Gina Kirschenheiter staying in the main cast.
Per the report, Emily Simpson, Jennifer Pedranti, Vicki Gunvalson, and Carmella Garcia will not return.
According to the source, Shannon would be demoted to a friend of, and four or five newbies could be joining, as filming is pushed to March or April. The source added that Bravo is apparently seeking rich, vivacious women, and one of them is Gina’s close friend.
A few weeks ago, Andy reacted to fans’ negative response to Vicki’s return to RHOC this season.
“In terms of Vicki on Orange County, what I like about it is that we have been watching this woman for 20 years, and you are seeing her … at a different life stage,” said Andy at the time on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live. “And yes, she’s at a different life stage than many of the other women, but you know, you see her reflecting on her life a lot on that show. She regrets divorcing Don. She is dealing with some ailments.”
“So maybe for the viewers, it’s not vibing because she’s at such a different place than Gina or Emily or whatever,” he went on. “She is an elder. She’s 20 years older than them, but I find that interesting.”
