The report back then claimed Peggy banned her openly gay brother Pol’ Atteu, and his fiancé, Patrik Simpson, from attending their dad’s funeral simply because he was gay and she didn’t agree with his lifestyle.
“Peggy did not even tell her brother that their father was dying, and he did not know until he was already dead. She did not want him coming to see him at the hospital because he is gay and it literally broke her brother’s heart,” a source alleged back then to Radar Online.
Even more surprising was the fact that Peggy’s brother Pol’ seemed to confirm the story to Radar, telling the publication: “Unfortunately it is all true. She is extremely homophobic and, yes, it is heartbreaking.”
Following that shocker, Peggy, 43, apparently attempted to take the high road by not immediately denying the claims, which brought her a lot of backlash from fans of the show as well as some other Bravo housewives.
Well fast forward to today and a source close to Peggy is shutting down those rumors by stating Peggy is definitely not a homophobe.
The family insider tells iRealHousewives that the funeral story was a “lie,” and that Peggy’s brother is simply trying to get attention to “latch on the Sulahian’s fame” from being on the RHOC.
The source adds that Peggy and her husband Diko Sulahian couldn’t “care less” about her brother’s gay lifestyle because they “have many gay friends.”
As for why there was any drama between the siblings to begin with, the source reveals it all has to do with money and not at all with Pol’s sexuality.
“Her brother cheated them out of money and that’s why they don’t talk to him, not because he’s gay,” said the insider. “Pol has a history of ripping people off. His entire family including uncles and aunts don’t speak to him because of this.”
Fortunately for Peggy, there is proof that her brother might be sketchy as a report by Variety from January of 2017 reveals Pol and his fiance Patrick are facing criminal charges for operating an unlicensed talent agency and for allegedly unlawfully charging the parent of an underage child for fees and photographs. Some excerpts from that article are below –
“Patrick Arnold Simpson, 48, Paul Atteukenian, 51 and their business Network International Models & Talent were each charged with seven criminal counts including violating the Krekorian Act(advance fees for talent services); operating without a “Child Performer Service Permit”, falsely representing that the business was a licensed talent agency, petty theft, attempted grand theft and criminal conspiracy.
The agency is alleged to have signed a teenage girl for representation last April even though its businesses agency license had expired four months earlier and had failed to obtain a “Child Performer Service Permit.” Her mother was allegedly charged $560 for photographs and a portfolio by the agency, then paid $184 for photo services and was informed that she would need to pay the agency $8,245 so her daughter could attend the agency’s convention.”
Peggy also took to her Bravo blog two weeks ago to defend herself while not directly mentioning the allegations. She wrote, “As I deal with the loss of my father and my health battle, I am choosing to focus on my family and on my own recovery and not on personal attacks against me. I will not further engage in a public exchange with anyone, but it must be stated that the accusations against me are false and my actions have been grossly mischaracterized.”
All interesting. A new episode of the Real Housewives of OC will air tonight on Bravo at 9/8c.
