In today’s somewhat surprising news, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania is opening up about an extreme method she is using to lose weight.
In a new interview, Dolores reveals what led to her undergoing the Obalon Balloon System which had her swallowing a pill-size balloon which is then expanded in her stomach to prevent overeating.
Dolores is speaking out in the latest print issue of OK! Magazine and shares what led to her rock bottom concerning her weight.
“I felt really self-conscious about my weight,” says Dolores of how she felt about herself while attending a July boat party celebrating Bravo reality stars. “I had gained over 20 pounds from stress and eating late after filming. I just let myself go.”
Dolores’ revelation is more stunning considering that she is the owner of the Powerhouse Gym in Old Bridge, NJ… something she says “added a certain amount of pressure” to her desire to lose the weight quickly. When asked why she simply didn’t just increase her work outs, Dolores states: “Portion control is my biggest issue. I overeat. I eat too fast. I’m not conscious of what I’m doing. Some people that eat to live; I live to eat.”
The Obalon Balloon System is described by Dolores as a “nonsurgical treatment where you swallow one balloon each month for three months. They expand and float in your stomach and prevent you from gorging. When you hit your goal weight, they get deflated and removed.”
At 5-feet-4, Dolores reveals her goal weight is to get back under 140 pounds. She currently weighs 156 lbs and reveals she would feel “happy” with losing 15 to 20 pounds. You can read more about Dolores’ weight loss procedure plus see photos in the latest issue of OK!.
Moving on to Dolores and her ex-husband Frank Catania. As RHONJ viewers are aware, Dolores’ main story-line this season was having her ex/father of her two kids Frank move back in with her as she claimed it was strictly platonic.
Viewers have however noticed there still seems to be some lingering chemistry between the exes and a recent post by Dolores has us wondering if they are now officially back together.
Dolores shared a photo on her Instagram a few days ago with Frank and their daughter with the following caption: “The older you get, the more you realize that it isn’t about the material things, or pride, or ego. It’s about our hearts and who they beat for.”—R.A. ❤️.” That post is below.
