Real Housewives of New Jersey star Danielle Staub may hold the record for the shortest marriage in Housewives history! Her husband, Marty Caffrey, is now taking legal steps to dissolve the couple’s two month marriage, and it’s starting to look like Danielle may be in for a pretty tough battle!
Following Marty’s accusations that he suffered “financial, verbal, and emotional abuse” during his very short-lived marriage to Danielle, the 56-yr-old reality star is now lawyering up, according to a new report.
“Danielle has received a letter advising her to retain counsel, which she has,” Danielle’s rep explained to Radar Online. “The two attorneys spoke and both sides agreed to keep this matter private. It’s disappointing to her that only 48 hours later that understanding is apparently no longer being honored.”
Marty hasn’t been at all shy about sharing the details of his marriage, as he has accused Danielle of being “arrogant, presumptuous, and entitled.” In a lengthy statement he released last month, he made claims that Danielle ignored him, mistreated him, and used him for his money.
“I bailed Danielle out of a really tough situation. I gave her a platform to be relevant again. Because I believed in her and loved her. I still love her and still believe in her. And her payback is nothing but financial, verbal and emotional abuse. I’ve tried dozens of times to talk to Danielle about this but she just buries her head in the sand,” Marty shared in a statement on July 31.
He added, “Her birthday party was the tipping point. I was left completely in the dark. I wasn’t allowed to know who was invited. My family and friends were left out until the last minute only because I kept pressing the issue. There was no intention of including my family or friends. But I was expected to pay for it. Which I refused to do.”
The couple dated for two years before tying the knot on May 5 in a lavish Bahamian ceremony captured by Bravo cameras, and attended by Danielle’s RHONJ castmates. News of their separation broke last month.
