As we witnessed in the concluding reunion episode of RHONY this week, Luann was harshly criticized by Bethenny Frankel, Ramona Singer, and Barbara Kavovit for her singing abilities — or lack thereof. They all agreed that while she is a good entertainer, her singing skills could use some work. “You’re not Adele,” Barbara even blurted out at one point.
But the big-headed performer took the harsh words in stride. She made sure to remind the cast that she must be doing something right given her impressive yet surprising upcoming performance gig.
“I want to tell you all right now, that for someone who can’t sing, I just got cast in ‘Chicago’ on Broadway,” the 54-year-old housewife bragged.
However, the cabaret star is now backtracking on her reunion comments. On Friday, Luann’s rep told Page Six that this casting decision hadn’t actually been set in stone.
“Due to scheduling conflicts, between her [Bravo show], her jewelry line and her successful cabaret tour [with ‘The Countess and Friends’] Luann will not be joining the cast of ‘Chicago’ at this time,” the rep said.
The statement from Luann’s rep comes weeks after Page Six contacted a rep for the show to confirm Luann’s claims. The show issued a statement back then stating: “Luann de Lesseps is not confirmed to join the cast of ‘Chicago’ at this time.”
So, for the time being, it appears the Countess will NOT be starring in Chicago on Broadway. It’s not exactly clear as to why the “Money Can’t Buy You Class” singer announced the casting prematurely.
The 11th season of RHONY just wrapped up, and filming has yet to begin on the new season.
