A new report is revealing how Jersey Shore: Family Vacation‘s Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is feeling after being arrested last Friday for allegedly kidnapping his daughter and striking his girlfriend, Jen Harley. Plus, a source reveals the real reason he was holding a knife that night.
As fans can recall, the MTV star was arrested and tased by police on October 4 after allegedly chasing his girlfriend Jen with a knife while holding their young daughter. And as one would imagine, Ronnie is now navigating his next steps after the disturbing event.
“[Ronnie’s] very somber. He’s trying to put himself in a place mentally where he’s going to be able to digest all of this. It’s a lot for him to take in,” an insider recently dished to US Weekly. “He feels pretty horrible, but he’s in an OK space. He’s just trying to process what just happened.”
After the reality star was arrested for felony domestic violence from the couple’s Los Angeles Airbnb on Friday, he was subsequentially charged with kidnapping before being released from behind bars on bail for $100,000.
According to The Los Angeles Police Department’s public information officer, “Officers responded to a battery in progress in the 7200 block of Woodrow Wilson Drive at around 2:40 a.m. Suspect and victim were involved in some kind of physical altercation. When officers [were] on location, the suspect was uncooperative. Officers had to use a taser so there was minor use of force that occurred.”
Authorities also stated that the couple’s 18-month-old daughter, Ariana, “was not harmed” during the incident.
The day following the arrest, Ronnie’s attorney, Scott E. Leemon, released a statement to Us Weekly regarding the allegations. “The reporting of the alleged incident relating to Ronnie Magro yesterday is based upon pure speculation and innuendo,” the attorney said on October 5.
Hours before the violent incident took place, Ronnie and Jen were seen galavanting around Beverly Hills, seemingly in good spirits (the photo below was taken just hours before Ronnie’s arrest), which makes things even more confusing. And in another perplexing twist, sources close to the reality star claim he wasn’t using the knife to attack Jen, but rather, to defend himself and his daughter against her.
“Ronnie is adamant he NEVER picked up or threatened Jen with a knife during their latest domestic disturbance in L.A,” sources knowledgeable of the matter recently told TMZ.
Insiders are also saying that Ronnie was actually confronting Jen because “he was afraid she was trying to take their daughter away from their Airbnb rental home,” according to the report.
Sadly, the reality star couple is no stranger to disputes turning violent — fans saw Ronnie talk about Jen allegedly dragging him by a car on past episodes of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
As of now, no official court dates regarding the incident have been released.
