Leah McSweeney has been open about her alcoholism and mental health. During her first season on Real Housewives of New York, Leah gave up her sobriety and went off the deep end (literally) at an impromptu pool party in Ramona Singer’s backyard.
By her sophomore season, the 39-year-old was back on the wagon, and she abstained from the wild partying of her co-stars.
On her Instagram on Monday, Leah mentioned another chapter of her life — being in a psych ward.
A written message was accompanied by a video of herself with a makeup artist. In the post, Leah imagined what her past selves would think about different events in her life.
“16 year old me would be shocked that I’m still alive… 20 year old me would think I was crazy for having a baby at 24,” she wrote.
Leah then revealed, “30 year old me would be saddened to know I end up in a psych ward.”

Leah ended the message on a positive note, saying, “34 year old me would find it hilarious that I ended up on rhony.” She captioned the post, “Keep going ❤️❤️❤️ #recovery #healing #mentalhealth #trauma #addiction.”
On a past episode of Real Housewives of New York, Ramona exposed Leah’s bipolar diagnosis, which angered many fans who felt the ‘OG’ crossed the line.
Leah just released her book, Chaos Theory, which uncovers more layers in her past.
