Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz Separated 2 Days Before Valentine’s Day as Lala Kent Weighs in on "Sad" Split, Did Pump Rules Exes Have Prenup?

Last week, Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz announced their breakup. The Vanderpump Rules couple has been married for almost six years, and has been in a relationship for 12.

A source told People that the couple was experiencing a lack of intimacy. In Tom’s initial statement, he suggested Katie was making the decision (and not him).

According to court docs obtained by Us Weekly, the couple separated two days before Valentine’s Day.

Katie filed for divorce on March 22, because of “irreconcilable differences.” All of the paperwork was signed, however, on the 14th of March. This was the day before they told fans about the split.

Court docs also state the couple did not have a pre-nup: “Assets [and] debts acquired by either party before the date of marriage, after the date of separation, or by gift of inheritance at any time, shall be confirmed to the part who acquired said asset or debt as his or her sole and separate property.”

Meanwhile, their co-star and friend Lala Kent commented on the split, referring to the situation as “very sad.”

“It’s so sad. It’s very sad — that’s the most perfect and only way to put it,” she revealed on Amazon Live. “I thought their statements were very well thought out and I know that there is still love there.”

She went on to say, “I’m sad for them, but I know that they are always going to be extremely close because that’s just how they are. They are both incredible people.”
